We are proud to announce that our latest CD received 5 stars of the Goldberg Magazine!
CAPILLA FLAMENCA

The vocal and instrumental consort Capilla Flamenca takes its name from the choir of the court chapel of Emperor Charles V. When Charles left the Low Countries in 1517, he took his best musicians with him in order to accompany him as 'living polyphony' to Spain.

The vocal core of the Capilla Flamenca (counter tenor Marnix De Cat, tenor Tore Denys, baritone Lieven Termont and bass Dirk Snellings) is enlarged with complementary singers, an alta capella (wind instruments), a bassa capella (string instruments) or an organ, according to the needs of the programme or genre.

The Capilla Flamenca has won the prestigious international award Il Filarmonico for both the high artistic value of their performances and the cultural value of their musicological research. This award has already been assigned to artists such as Olivier Messiaen, J.E. Gardiner, Zubin Mehta, Pierre Boulez and Gustav Leohnardt. Recently the ensemble has been honoured with the Culture prize for Music of the Flemish Government for, among other things, making polyphony more accessible for a growing audience all over the world.

Capilla Flamenca's recordings have received numerous major awards, including several Prix Chocs (Le Monde de la Musique), Diapason d'Ors, Répertoire10, two Caecilia prizes from the Belgian music press and the Klara Music Prize 2004. These awards and the very positive reviews worldwide provide ample evidence that the Capilla Flamenca is a leading ensemble in the field of Early Music.

Emmanuelle GIULIANICD Recording Leuven, June 2008 Bellum & Pax
