Yolk is a collective of musicians. Founded in 1999 by the three recognized french musical personalities: Alban Darche, Jean-Louis Pommier, Sébastien Boisseau, and joined in 2006 by Daniel Casimir and Matthieu Donarier, two other key figures of the French jazz scene. Uniting their forces to defend a modern and creative attitude in composition and conception of today’s improvised and written music. They also run their own label, Yolk Records, open to other musicians with the same demand for accuracy and creativity.Performance, recording and educational activities are the main tools of the collective, locally in its hometown (Nantes) and region (Pays de la Loire) as well as reaching out nationally and with an increasing desire to cross more borders.Yolk also works to establish contact between different national or even local jazz scenes ignoring each other. Realizing that to fight the spread of monoculture is becoming increasingly important Europe-wide, they are trying to unite like minds amongst the musicians and collectives of this continent and further afield.Yolk is supported by the french ministry of culture.

Fondé en 1999 par 3 personnalités musicales de la scène Jazz française: Alban Darche, Sébastien Boisseau & Jean-Louis Pommier auxquelles se sont associés Daniel Casimir & Matthieu Donarier en 2006. Regroupés en collectif afin d’unir leurs forces et de confronter leurs réflexions, ces musiciens agissent pour défendre une conception moderne de la musique improvisée & du Jazz.Ils ont également fondé leur propre label, Yolk Records, ouvert à d’autres musiciens et à d’autres projets, avec toujours la même demande en authenticité & créativité.Concerts, Enregistrements, Activités Pédagogiques sont les principaux outils du collectif. Agir du local, depuis Nantes & la Région des Pays de La Loire, à l’international avec toujours cette volonté de traverser les frontières géographiques et de transgresser les genres musicaux.En s’associant aussi avec d’autres collectifs ou associations oeuvrant dans des démarches créatives similaires, Yolk tente à sa manière de combattre la propagation de la culture de masse, conscients que la culture reste un enjeu majeur dans la construction de l’être.Yolk est un collectif d'artistes conventionné par le ministère de la culture.
