Temporary Stringband has a repertoire of early twentieth century songs and tunes inspired by the likes of Gid Tanner and His Skillet Lickers, Charlie Poole, as well as traditional Appalachian fiddle tunes. The band received a great welcome in their first few shows in Minnesota and Wisconsin. A defining moment in the band’s early days was when one older Wisconsin fan exclaimed “Charlie Poole! I haven’t heard that name in 50 years!†The band strives to share its enthusiasm for old-time music, and hopes every audience will find commonality with the age-old themes and melodies.Regarding the name: The first gig opportunity came shortly after the band formed. “Temporary Stringband†was used as a place holder until they could think of a more permanent name. However, many people have said that they like it, and it started growing on the band members as well, so they decided to make “Temporary†permanent.
