Young artist Angel Ortolaza known as The Viper was born in Hinsdale Illinois but raised in Chicago. He is fully Puerto Rican and partakes in the Puerto Rican Festival every summer in Chicago. Raised in the windy city but he refused to be blown away.
The Viper has always had a heartfelt feeling for music, especially R&B. The 17 year old artist has been out for about a year, and is now more ecstatic about the music than ever. "I feel like I am ready. Just give me a Hollywood studio and the results will play themselves." he laughs. The Viper has yet to record his songs to the potential that they deserve but he strives forward with the task at hand.
The young artist is not to be taken lightly. He is ambitious and always about his business. Ready to compose a new track, ready to collaborate with those who truly understand R&B and are as serious as he is when it comes to music. "The one thing that I want to bring to the table is diversity, flavor, something different. Many artist of today stick to the boundaries, they stay in their own little lane. I want to step out side the box and get rid of these cliché’s that artist lean on to compose their songs. I want to be down to earth with my lyrics and for my audience to say: “â€that sounds like my story, that sounds like what I am going through.â€â€ He goes on as his eyes light up and he speaks about setting your self apart.
It’s his comprehension of the music which makes him such a fluent song writer. In our everyday life we have new experiences and he takes those experiences that the average person can relate to and he transforms it into a song. "Sound can touch your emotions and different sounds evoke different feelings but there are places in the heart where only music can touch." He meets and exceeds the standards of what an artist is made of up of today. “A true artist should have the capacity of putting himself in the shoes of others and completely visualize their story. Visualize their joy, their passion, their pain, their emotions. It becomes surreal and you, the artist, live their story. Now that’s how you write a song!" He laughs.
He writes about the ups and downs in love. We are not robots, we have emotions and love can be amazing, but it can also be painful. That’s what R&B is about, Love. There needs to be more creativity, play the tune of the audience's emotion. R&B is the music you come to when you need to get away. Daze off and get in a different zone.
