Hanging out with my friends, either at home or going out for dinner, drinks or having fabulous home improvement parties a la "Trading Spaces". I like going to the beach in the summer (with my SPF 30+) and ANYWHERE warm in the winter...brrr. Spending time with my family is also important to me (a large and crazy bunch)
Friends: I like meeting people who are fun, easy-going and don't take themselves too seriously...life's too short not to laugh! My friends are VERY important to me and I count myself lucky to have some really TRUE ones in my world. As for romance...I like the all-American guy next door type. Guys with varied interests, guys who have fun with what life throws them, and conversationalists catch my attention. A guy who has manners, values honesty and is intelligent is also a turn on...and best of all, I've finally found him...
My taste is pretty eclectic. Having older parents in their seventies, siblings ranging in age from 46 to 55, and having friends my age, I like everything from Dance, pop and alternative to Glenn Miller, the Andrew Sisters and Vaughn Monroe.
I love nerdy sci fi and fantasy movies. The Star Wars movies are great. Episodes 4-6 were of course classic, but I also like the newest installments (Ep 1-3). Hayden Christiansen was slightly better in Ep 3, but I still think he's just better if he stands there and looks gorgeous. Star Trek movies are also favs and the Lord of the Rings movies prove fantasy movies can be done RIGHT if you put your mind to it! Of course, I like OTHER types of movies, and have a particular penchant for old movies from Hollywood's golden era like Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz. More current favorites are The Princess Bride (I drive my friends crazy quoting that one) and Latter Days (which had some parallels to my OWN missionary experience)
I honestly don't watch a whole lot of it, but to have something on in the background...I'd have to say I watch a lot of the History channel, Discovery, CNN and TLC (love Trading Spaces!). Ok, so I'm adding Batttlestar Gallactica to my TV must see list at the risk of being labeled a TOTAL sci-fi geek. Is is so wrong to enjoy the storyline while staring at Apollo's amazing arms??
Currently reading a great book called "Choice Theory" by William Glasser, which is a great eye-opener in dealing with people, seeing the potential in everyday choices and seizing control over your own life. I also read a good book not too long ago called "Men's Way of Relating: Friendly Competitors; Fierce Companions" dealing with masculinity in the post-Industrialist modern world. Also like the Michael Chrichton novels very much , sci-fi books, and some childhood favs like "The Box-car Children" and "Peter Rabbit" (I still love chamomile tea because of that book!)
