Someone said: ''It’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock’n’roll!''
Ou... it’s fuckin’ true.
Since the beginning (January ‘94) The Main Attraction faced every kind of trouble searchin’ for what he always dreamed to reach for.
That year he came up with the idea that he’s going to be the lead singer of a rock band! Some school shows in a Van Halen cover band and nothing more. Then one year later he met Six Strings Razor, a laconic Les Paul guitar player influenced by the Delta blues; they played together for few months in a Guns’n’Roses cover band. Five guys... much noise... no dreams. During this experience he started to write his own original songs and it was exciting... amazing to him! The fact that he wasn’t really a musician was not a reason to lessen them.
He finded out his passion for a sour but melodic kind of musical language with sleazy and decadent attitude: stuff like Stooges, 70’s Rolling Stones but also Aerosmith, Warrior Soul, Wildhearts and Sex Pistols were running through his veins.
So, after many difficulties, one year later The Main Attraction (who did call himself Ronnie in that period) and Six Strings Razor finally built up a nasty, shaky band involvin’ Markano on bass and Ampex on drums.
This band was called Striking Tough: striking like a diamond, tough like a diamond. They shown off a bizarre mixture of rough punk-metal songs and sick tunes during their electric and overwhelming gigs above every kind of stage in Rome, in which they played covers and original material. But unfortenatelly, after their first and last demo tape, in 1999 The Main decided to stop this project, startin’ to focus much more his mind on his own songs, tryin’ to feel the better way he wanted to write and play. His soul was rushin’ on a free way to reinvent what he always was influenced from; he realized he was able to offer a richer kind of music, however, startin’ from a hard rock basement.
So he choosed to work in this new adventure with one of his best friends, a guitarist called Ede Catalano, for his melodic touch and his capacity to put the right idea in the right situation. On his old new songs The Main Attraction involved also other musicians, with the main intent to keep his material “open wideâ€, brilliant, powerful and listenable... as its best!
Since 2003 the band has produced a number of tracks without, unfortunately, having a chance to play them live. This was due to the difficulties involved in finding musicians inclined toward the band's style.
15/7/2008... having attended a concert involving several Roman rock bands and following a meeting with the agency Alkemist Fanatix Europe, The Main Attraction went through an epiphany and realized it was time to unleash the beast: by assembling the right team and finding musicians to play live, the project would come to life and seek successive nights to play and fully express our love for rock.
The first to be recruited were El Greri, a guitarist whose style rests somewhere between the '70s and the '80s, and the mod Delirio beating the drums. A few days later The Main Attraction chose Franky Cartoon as its bass player... and thus the embryonic phase began.
After three months of hard work the four managed to put together a lively and aggressive repertoire of eleven originals (previously written) and two covers, and further managed a great debut after just one month's practice. But it was the arrival on stage of the multi-instrumentalist Dany Fanasca that squared the circle! Not just a noteworthy artist, but a wild and histrionic stage act as well!
