About Me

Bem vindo! - Bienvenue! - Willkommen! - Benvenuto! - Recepción!
I'm a Christian guitarist from MA (I play a little bass and keyboards too). I love to play just about any style, but inside God made me a rocker for sure. I love the sounds of many different guitars, that's why I have 6 of them.... but I used to have 40! For me it's all about the tone.
I am looking for some New England based musicians to do some jam/recording with. I am interested in both instrumental and vocal recording, just as long as we get to rock-out!
HISTORY: I guess it all began in 1964 with the Beatle's, "I Want to Hold Your Hand"... thanks Gigi, for bringing that 45 to kindergarten class that day. I was fascinated with rock n' roll! I remember watching my brother's band play 60's classics like: "Suzy Q", "Hang on Sloopy", "Pictures of Matchstick Men" and "Sunshine of Your Love", first on the white Ludwig' and then on those purple metal-flake Slingerland'. It was the days of Vox organs, white Stratocasters, Fender amps and hollow-body Gretch's... a long time before air guitars were made. So, I crafted my first green and black axe from wall-board to pretend I was jamming with them.
In the 70's I bought my first real guitar, a Yamaha Les Paul type thing along with an Ampeg V4 amp. Damn, it looked easier to play then it was. Thanks to Roy and Heiko... and some liquid encouragement, we jammed all day and all night. These are chord progressions they would say. C, F and G. I bought my first Ovation not long afterwards and started lessons with Vic.
You know, most people have to go through a few bands to find people they click with. I was no different. "Insanity" covered the drug drenched sounds of Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. We lasted a few months before Rick dumped us for better players.
Then there was "Infinity" covering tunes by all the 70's rock bands from Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, REO Speed Wagon, Foreigner, Sabbath, and Nugent to the Southern Rock sounds of "Lynard Skynard" and "Marshall Tucker". We lasted about a year or so, but it was a lot of fun and we had quite a few gigs.
1985 that was a blur, I played with Rock Candy. We covered the best of the Cream, Young Rascals, Amy Grant, Pat Benatar, Scandal, The Beatles, Ronny James Dio, Steve Miller, Don Henley, The Eagles and the Stray Cats. Bobby was one of the best drummers I ever played with. He was so right on that you couldn't do anything wrong.
I met Doug a few years later. He played everything! So we started jamming to 60's classics like "Alright Now", "Little Red Riding Hood" and loads of others by the John Fogarty, the Kinks, BTO, Jeff Beck, Tom Petty and others... and so it was born that year, Johnny D. and Rockets (mostly because people confused my first and last name.) we were joined by a bunch of local guys that couldn't seem to show up for rehearsals, but we gigged and had a good time. Doug and I got an apartment together and played day and night. Between us we had 70 or more guitars! And so it was until Doug tragically died one day in 1998. Most of those demos are gone with the years, but a few which are posted here.
2008? I am playing contemporary worship at church just about every Sunday. Yupp, we have drums and electric guitars! We cover Michael W. Smith, Israel Houghton and the New Breed, Tim Hughes, Hillsongs, Vineyard, Casting Crowns, David Crowder, Darrell Evans, Brian Doerksen, Brent Helmig and more...
