The concept of The Jericho Machine began with the vivid imagination of one musician, Robert Joseph Perez. Robert's long journey as a "solo artist" finally culminated when he paired up with Lazi Boi Productions to create his first concept album.
The tangible embodiment of this process is projected in the music performed by Robert Joseph Perez {Vocals/guitar) Adrian Barbosa (bass), Juan Alcazar (Guitar), and Adrian Varela (drums).
In February 2007, Robert hit the studio on a mission, armed with two guitars his beloved acoutic Taylor "Britney Spearswood" and his electric Ibanez "Beyonce". Layer upon layer of guitar tracks were laid down, establishing the core of the album.
During the process of recording, Lazi Boi Productions decided to showcase the music on a grander scale. In November 2007, the band was formed with the additions of Adrian "D-Rain" Varela (drums) and George Giraldo (bass). The impact of Adrian and George was as anticipated. In fact, some of the songs were actually re-recorded in order to capture their youthful energy.
The Jericho Machine did not waste any time making their mark locally. The music of TJM and the strength of Robert’s voice soon caught the attention of Mighty Mike Quinn (program director at Q94.5 FM). TJM was then invited into the station for a live interview and acoustical performance.
February 2008, The Jericho Machine was crowned Champion of the R.G.V. Battle of the Band Smack Down. As reigning Champion, TJM, was rewarded by opening for Major Label Artist "FLYLEAF" on March 21, 2008. TJM also perfomed at Border Fest 2008 with Vince Neil of "Motley Crew".
On July 5, 2008 the Band locally released their debut album "Educated Donkeys" while performing at BandTango on South Padre Island. That night, The Jericho Machine gauged itself against Major Label and National Recording Acts: Alien Ant Farm, SupaGroup, Jet Black Stare, and Midnight to Twelve.
The success of BandTango allowed The Jericho Machine the prestigeous honor of becoming the first rock band from the Rio Grande Valley to receive radio rotation. "Mosquito Hunting" is being played on rock stations Q94.5 (McAllen, Texas) and 99.5 KISS (San Antonio, Texas). While "Gavin White", the second single released, is being spun on Top 40 station Hot Kiss 106.3 (Weslaco, Texas).
Other concerts included perfomances with Hurt, Trapt, Shwayze, and several dates with Midnight to Twelve. The Jericho Machine wrapped up 2008 by building a strong regional following of dedicated fans.
Momentum carried The Jericho Machine into 2009. The band has had continued success on the airwaves while also showing their diversity in performing an acoustic show with Major Label Artist "ALTER BRIDGE".
Currently, the band is gearing up for its first National Tour. Do not miss the opportunity to experience the incredible live production.
"Educated Donkeys" is available at participating Best Buy and Hastings locations. The record can also be purchased online at LaziBoi.com, BestBuy.com, CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, and other digital distributors.
The lyrical content and theme of "Educated Donkeys" is in regard to my introspective journey and education in the fields of theology and philosophy. "All of the songs are a conversation or discussion between different and opposing view points," says Perez.
