1. No cover bands We despise crap cover bands that rehash Hendrix and Pink Floyd over and over again. Its, lazy spiritually empty, has no artistic merit and not welcome. East Kent is full of these kind of people who all have flash gear and often get paid more than professional signed acts that go to the trouble of producing original music and tour the world. Tropical Robots are currently at war with crap cover bands. Please join us in our struggle. Free badges supporting our cause are available at our shows soon.
2. No cover charge unless we have to Our events always feature entertainment that is exotic, challenging and original so we try and keep it cheap as chips and where possible free! We are not greedy robots. Our only concern is about keeping our circuits in good working order and ensuring our guests cover their costs. Earth money is always welcome and we encourage you to play our tombola’s and prize raffles and throw whatever you can afford in our robotic hats.
3. Exotic robotic entertainment Tropical Robots like humans are born with pre-programmed tastes. Some of our tastes are socially constructed therefore we believe it’s our duty to expand our minds and yours. You can't keep everyone happy so the more whacked out, unique and brilliant the better. We love all musical genres as long as it’s independent and challenging. We also love comedy, quizzes, short films, spoken work, poetry readings, puppetry and a bit of freaky dancing. If you would like to perform or contribute to our events please contact us.
4. We love local performers We love to help local acts gain exposure and have a regular night where they can perform. All our events will feature some locally grown talent from the Garden of England.
5. We love international performers who love the Isle of Thanet World class performers pass through our local ferry ports everyday. We want to encourage these people to stop by, enjoy our beautiful seaside and play a show. If our foriegn friends turn up we want to make sure that have a positive impression of our home so please come out to support them, make them feel welcome, buy their merchandise, be their myspace friend, offer them a hot meal and a place to stay, let them deplete your drinks cabinet of that horrible aniseed flavoured booze that tasted alright on holiday but not when you tried it at home.
6. We love other promoters We love anybody that tries to put on events and we want to support them and expect them to support us. We want to create a great scene and can’t do it alone.
7. We love free stuff Send us your demos. We promise to listen to them all and review the best ones on our webshite.
8. We love giveaways Giving is better that receiving even if you are a robot.
9. We love feedback Tell us what you think. We want you to help us to help you have a great night.
10. We love to have fun Be nice to each other, have a great time and support the local scene.
Love Tropical Robots xxxxx
