By the age of 3, attending ballet and tap dance classes every Saturday became second nature. After taking a break to pursue other athletic interests, India picked up dance again during her freshman year at Hampton University. After she aced modern dance, it was on to something new...Jazz and Hip Hop Dance. At the end of her sophomore year, she made the Majestic Dance Troupe team. During her tenure on Majestic, India learned the recipe to unforgettable stage presence and became very disciplined to make sure she put 100 percent into every dance performance. She took her passion with her to Fisk University, where she attended graduate school right after finishing college. As soon as she found out that Fisk had a dance team, Songleaders, she tried out for the team and immediately began a team leader. During her second year on the team, she had to take on the role of Assistant Coach, until her Master's Thesis preparation became too hectic. India graduated from Fisk with a Master of Arts degree in Psychology in 1999. As with everything else that is embedded in you, India's passion for dance never left her mind no matter what she was doing. After another hiatus from dancing, she became involved in again by assisting a high school dance team. After that experience, India knew that she had to find a way to re-integrate dance into her life. After beginning a graduate program in Health, Physical Education and Recreation at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), she began to discover how she can take her deep interest in dance to the next level. India joined the IMPACT Dance Organization, and also began working on research projects involving the connection between dance and maintaining good health.By the time India graduated with a Master of Science degree in December 2006, she completed and got the approval for a research project that examined the relationship between Recreational Dance and Stress Management and also designed a Dance Health to combat obesity in school-aged children. In additional to working on her first studio album, which is scheduled to be released by the end of the first quarter in 2009 (myspace.com/indigaston), India is working to refined her Dance Health Programs, and also planning choreography projects.
