da Microphone Misfitz

About Me

One night at a barbeque in the parking lot at a college campus formerly known as "Barat", two unassuming emcees drew in the attention of everybody nearby because of their energetic freestyles that had clever punch-lines that incorporated their surroundings as well as witty parallels and word play. As the night went on many people partook in the cipher but only 3 souls connected Pete Proper, Young DRU & D-Nick. Soon after that, D-Nick was asked to enter the 2003 Source Unsigned Hype M.C. battle. D-Nick lost after making it to the final 3 but managed to win love and respect of the crowd. Soon after Tha Marvelous Mel L. a close friend and business partner of D’s came to visit. After hearing of the battle Mel instantly brought D-Nick to the studio in Flint MI to put down three tracks. After this recording session, D-Nick came back to Barat and let DRU and Pete listen to the songs. Thoroughly enjoying what they had just heard they came up with two things “we could definitely make this happen.” And two “we don’t fit in anywhere” so that makes them “da Microphone Misfitz...” Once the group was formed, Pete changed locations to the main campus of DePaul University (known as Lincoln Park or LP) and started spreading the name as did the other two Misfitz. In this networking is where they found the eventual 3rd flower of the group: Charity Clay. Just like their forging at the barbeque, Charity became a member of the group after displaying her verbal superiority over most of the others with a diction that compelled people to listen because of its ease. Their monikers are not just monikers its who they are what they do or what they believe in. - D-Nickel or D-Nick for short (born Dominique Stockman) was always an avid Nickelodeon watcher in his younger days to which his grandmother gave him the nickname "nickelodeon" to which it eventually shortened its way to Nick. Dominique always looking up to his older cousin D-Trizzle blessed him with the Name D-Nickel. - Pete Proper (born Peter Hasenkamp) was always viewed as a gentleman amongst the ladies. For the Fitz, he produces and directs their artistic variety in the most "proper" of ways. - Clay (born Charity Clay) such and catchy name was only made catchier on the hip-hop scene by being soley named "Clay" and once you listen to her verses and songs altogether, the constant possibility as to how each verse or line is molded differently is almost like Clay. -Young DRU (born Andrew Walrond) whether it is on production or lyrically he has the ability to give Young Diverse Rhythms Universally - Tha Marvelous Mel L. (born Melvin Lyons) was always the right-hand-man of D-Nick, Mel has the ability to take any idea and make 10 times better. Their backgrounds are all different: D-Nick and Mel L. both hailing from the Notorious Flint Michigan, Clay represents the Twin Cities, Young DRU represents the Big Apple by way of Long Island and Pete Proper represents Dusseldorf Germany. da "Fitz" are also now apart of Chicago Hip-Hop artist collective F.E.W.
