About Me
In mid 2007, original members Chad Alsop, and Andre Cornejo found themselves in the perfect situation to start a band. A shitty house, shitty jobs, and a strong passion for music. They had jammed with one another periodically over the previous years, and after moving in with each other began thinking about starting a full band. Structured songs were slowly developing as the two built on the idea of finding a drummer and larger string section. Close friend, Ryley Devine was a regular visitor at Chad and Andre's small home on Park Circle, and had been wanting to learn how to play the drums for quite some time. He would spend days on end at the house so that after a long night, the three could wake up early, smoke a joint or two, and jam until it was time to get some sleep. Ryley's understanding of percussion grew steadily, and as a young trio, the three had started writing full songs. Month's went by, and the cold of winter was making itself known. In November of 2007, a house fire forced everyone out of windows, and made the future of their band (dubbed Dead Ranch), anything but certain. A small falling out took place between everyone, while they took time to try to deal with the loss of their home, and jam space. About a month after the fire, Andre and Ryley broke back into the house and discovered that their gear, which had been located downstairs by the source of the fire, was almost completely unharmed. The news was relayed to Chad as quickly as possible, and jamming commenced shortly after. By this point Dead Ranch had some material they were interested in recording, and were introduced to a local who was able to record the band in Andre's, mom's basement. The sessions lasted one weekend, and though the final product did sound rushed, it served as a huge new start for the group. They had their first show set up for them, not long after recording, at dylan o'conners. The sound guy sucked, the crowd wasn't great, and the set was less than fantastic, but experience was what Dead Ranch was really looking for. They found plenty of experience in Tyler Barrett, who was not only a long time friend, but an amazing guitarist. Some debate took place over whether the group should remain a three piece, or take the leap into a four member quadmonster. It was decided that a bigger sound couldn't possibly be something to complain about, and Tyler joined Dead Ranch about a year after it's birth. the band got comfortable, and slipped back into gigging mode. Dead Ranch is now relentlessly playing shows, and writing new material to record sometime in the near future..I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
