Ski season is among us!
Basically, I enjoy skiing, rock climbing, hiking, sailing, snowboarding, scuba, camping. Big fan of the outdoors.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching netflix as much as anyone else, but why veg out all day when I could be outside doing something that will likely get me killed.
I'd like to hit the slopes with Anja Pärson, bitch about public policy with Jon Stewart, act in a scene with Kenneth Branagh, co-write a movie with Cameron Crowe, record a song with Liz Phair, and play 18 holes with Tiger Woods.
All that would be cool, but I'd rather spend time with my friends any day of the week.
I listen to everything. I love music. Southern Rock, 80's Glam Metal, Industrial, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Classical, Opera, Country, Lounge Singers, Rap, Pop, Alternative, and anything else across the board. Except that emo crap. Quit the whining and be a man.
High Fidelity. The War Room. A Few Good Men. Glengarry Glen Ross. State and Main. Any Warren Miller movie. The American President. Ski School. Blackhawk Down. Platoon. Almost Famous. Three Kings. Stripes. Caddyshack (but not Caddyshack II). 1941. Das Boot. Glory. Blazing Saddles. Donnie Brasco. Prefontaine. Fight Club. Backdraft (CFD, baby!!). Ladder 49. Traffic. Ski School (but not Ski School II). Man On Fire. Stigmata. Fight Club. The Fugitive. The Right Stuff. The Girl Next Door. Superbad. Go. Say Anything. John Hughes movies (pre-Baby's Day Out). Pi. Requiem for a Dream. Singles. Memento. Diner. Did I mention Ski School? and on, and on, and on. I really like movies.
There is nothing good left on TV anymore. Except Heroes. And Robot Chicken. Oh yeah, and Cops. And Future Weapons, MythBusters, World Poker Tour, Jeopardy... oh hell, I guess TV is cool.
But I've been working a lot recently, so I'm still in the middle of "Audacity of Hope" and "Devil in the White City".
I did finish and recommend "Freakonomics" and "The Geographer's Library". Oh, "The Kite Runner" is one of the greatest books I've ever read. "Into Thin Air" and "First American: Biography of Benjamin Franklin" are on deck.
Abraham Lincoln, Paul Simon (the former senator, not the singer), Ben Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Thomas Paine
And those who have put service to others above themselves; America's servicemen and women, emergency workers, and teachers.
