About Me

myspaceeditor.itI was first captured by music at the age of 12, when I started to play classical flute. After three years of private lessons I was admitted to the fourth year of Conservatory in Adria, but I soon left being more attracted by modern guitar. After some years of guitar self-teaching, at 20 I started to study at the Thelonious Monk school in Dolo, with Dario Volpi as guitar teache, Mauro Bordignon, Marcello Tonolo, Pietro Tonolo, Nicola Fazzini. During this period I started to play with many jazz combos and as guest with Big Bands like the Big Band of the Conservatory of Padova and the Lupia Jazz Orchestra, with which I still cooperate. In 2003 I started to teach in private schools and was admitted at the jazz course of the Conservatory G.Tartini (Trieste), with Marcello Tonolo,Setfano Bellon, Glauco Venier as teachers, where I had the chance to take part to master classes like those of Stefano Bollani (2005-2006), who awarded me with a special commend. In 2004 I won a scolarship to the Palermo Jazz Festival, where I attended many master classes, like those of Lee Konitz, Mario Raja, Antonio zambrini, Gerrison Fewell, Mimmo Cafiero, Marc Abrams, Alberto Malnati, and played with the big Band directed by Mario Raja. In the maentime I played with many known musicians, like Marcello Tonolo, Davide Ragazzoni, Jimmy Weinstein,David Boato,Nicola Fazzini, Massimo Chiarella, Luca Colussi,Matteo Alfonso, Mauro Bordignon and many others. Actually I'm teaching guitar, music for combos, harmony and improvisation in private schools. One year ago I founded the Nicola Privato quintet, with which I play songs and arrengements of mine, please check them out and make a comment!
