About Me

It's All About Love!
1 Corinthians 13
Mother JoAnne Hooks
Supervisor of Women
Mother JoAnne Hooks is the tenth of twenty children born to Wesley and Willie Mae Smith, who were sharecroppers, in the small town of Marianna, Arkansas.
At the age of seven, she began crying out to God seeking answers about her education. She was permitted to go to school on the rainy days only because she had to work alongside her family in the cotton fields.
When she was eleven years old, she heard the voice of the Lord but did not understand the call at that time. Mother Hooks fully surrendered her life to the Lord at a noonday prayer meeting twenty six years ago when she heard the voice of God once again. God then sent Jesus to lay hands upon her and told her, “I have anointed you to preach the gospel.” Not once, but twice in that same hour, hands were laid upon her and she was filled with the Holy Ghost all in one day.
“What a glorious experience, a day I will never forget!”

Excerpts from the book:
"I Don't Take It Lightly"
"I Don't Take It Lightly" God inspired me to write this book to let you know that there is, "nothing to hard for Him nor is there anything impossible with Him." I am truly a walking miracle and know without a "shadow of doubt" that God is a deliverer because of what He has done and is doing in my life. I would like to briefly give you a few excerpts from the book to allow you to know why, "I Don't Take It Lightly."
1. At the age of seven as I was eating fish a large bone crossed in my throat and practically took my life. But God had a plan, as I was suffering for hours gasping for air, an Angel of the Lord was sent to my rescue before the break of day and told me, "it's okay you can swallow now." Before I knew it the fishbone had disappeared...
2. At the age of nine there was an incident happened that my family does not care to talk about that nearly took my life and almost the sanity of my Mother. It is called an "Incident of Blood."
3. In Chapter Three: "She Cried Rape." I was molested at the age of thirteen. I searched for my attacker many years vowed to retaliate as to what I would do once I laid eyes upon him. I actually, carried bitterness in my heart and evil on my mind until it almost took my sanity. But God had a plan for me, 40 years later He allowed me to reveal the case to my family and the public, as to what happened to me. Believe it or not, this was the day forgiveness took place in my life and I was totally delivered. I am totally free today and that is why, "I Don't Take It Lightly."
4. At the age of sixteen I felt that my "Hope was in a Bottle" as opposed to placing my hope in God. I became an alcohol for 14 years.
5. In my late twenties after vomiting blood off and on for a period of nine months, I was stricken with cancer and placed in a hospice unit to die. After an elderly woman died in my room, God spoke to my heart and told me, "if I continue in my sins, I too would be gone." I was told there was nothing else that could be done for me, so I was sent home to die. I met Jesus through my illness twenty-seven years ago and He said, "not so." God healed me within five years after He saved me and that is why, "I Don't Take It Lightly."
6. In April 2006 I slipped into a coma and went to a place of darkness due to disobeying God. I have experienced Heaven twice since my salvation walk but never Hell. I questioned God as, "to why was I taken to a place of darkness?" He assured me to go back and tell the world that the, "place of darkness" does exists and that is why, "I Don't Take It Lightly."
