Catch Phrase (also known as Catch Bundy) first fell in love with hip hop at the young age of seven years old in upstate NY. All while memorizing Slick Rick‘s “Mona Lisa†and Rob Base’s “It Takes Two†after playing with his sisters record player before they would get home. From that point on he found himself listening to legendary artists such as: A Tribe Called Quest, Brand Nubian, EPMD, Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie, KRS One, Naughty By Nature, Das Efx and so on.So it would come as no surprise that ten years later, he found himself attempting to freestyle on the back of the varsity basketball team bus during a road trip to pass the time. Later that night in 1997, he picked up a pen and wrote his first of many verses.Shortly after discovering his new passion, while working on his craft trying to establish himself as an emcee he began earning a reputation around his high school. He then began hooking up with local dj’s for mixtapes and talent shows. Later that year, he made his first appearance on DJ Reality’s “Reality Checkâ€. He then went on to appear on 3 more DJ Reality mixtapes, a few talent shows in Poughkeepsie, NY and was even invited for a live on air college radio program. He soon formed a group called United Front with DJ Reality now known as Don Notz, and Bumps Hollywood. The group recorded several songs and maintained a passion for music while growing as aspiring artists. After graduating high school in 1999, Catch Phrase, born Eden Fleming, enrolled in college at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. While there he met up with several hungry emcees and continued to grow as a rapper by freestyling, battling, performing on campus and in talent shows. In 2001, Catch Phrase transferred schools to North Carolina A&T State University. Known as a hungry emcee, he was soon introduced by his good friend Sean Miller (aka the Animal), to a group of gifted emcees & producers on campus known as the Short Bus Alumni. Several meetings & many freestyle sessions later they clicked and the chemistry was unavoidable. His gritty, tough yet amusing rhymes, mixed with a smooth, passionate delivery meshed well with the groups authentic hip hop sound. To this day the Short Bus Alumni’s music & live performances reveal a blend of what hip hop is really about.Short Bus Alumni’s members consist of Rhimestone, Ansom the Beboy, Kontradiction, Rudi Divino and Raydar Ellis. Be on the look out for Short Bus Alumni’s Brick Records release “Mr. T’s Revenge†available July 22 2008.
