Together with all of YOU, the Unity Walk just celebrated the 15th Walk on Saturday, April 25, 2009, in New York City's Central Park! Your continued support and generous donations of time and service, have expanded fundraising and awareness well beyond earlier expectations, when it began 15 Walks ago.
STAY TUNED FOR THE APRIL 2010 DATE.
15 WALKS AGO: Margot Zobel's determination led to the start of the Walk in 1994. Called "The Walk Along the Park," 200 participants united to fundraise $16,000.
15 WALKS LATER: Margot Zobel's two main tenets for the Walk are still intact today. They are: (1) All money raised must go directly to research, and (2) the Walk should be an umbrella fundraiser from which not one, but several different Parkinson's research organizations can benefit.
THE 15TH WALK APRIL 25, 2009: It was another uplifiting Walk in which the Parkinson's disease community came together as one; to raise awareness & funds for Parkinson's disease research, and to celebrate the hope of finding a cure! We estimate that 10,000 participants were there to raise $1.5 million as of June 1, 2009. CONGRATS to all on your fundraising efforts!
NEXT WALK APRIL 2010: We are excited to walk with all of you again next year. We are already working on our April 2010 date, which we will announce as soon as it is approved by Central Park. Until then, we are here all year, to help with fundraising and preparation. Don't hesitate to call our office and look for Stacie, Kat, Terri, Carol, and Valentina =).
The Parkinson Alliance is proud to manage and direct: the Parkinson's Unity Walk, Team Parkinson, and dbs-stn.org.
