I am here for Friends

About Me

Hi, I'm Keely! My mom is letting me use her website to post things for all the wonderful friends I have met in the past year, and even before!I am four years old and have been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I have lots and lots of friends! Some of them live far away and write me letters (my Chemo Angels), and some of them I have met at the hospital. Some of them play baseball, and some of them catch bad guys. I even have some darned neat relatives.I am currently receiving chemotherapy in South Bend and kicking cancer's butt daily! Mom and sometimes I, will be writing a blog from time to time to let our friends know how things are going, and what fablious (my own personal word), adventures I am having.A collective thank you to all who have helped us through this most trying year. So far so good. As you read through the blogs, we are going to try to separate Mom's experience from mine. We will try to note whose are whose. Please note that if you are new to the blog, it's much more coherent if you start at the beginning, so you might have to go to the archive. If you stop by, please join my friends list. More than anything else, I like to get new friends and look at the pictures on their websites. So for those of you who know and love me (and those who just haven't met me yet), welcome! :)

Long Time No Write

I only have a second to tap out a couple lines, but I noticed that Keely's site has gotten a lot of hits lately, and I have been painfully remiss in keeping up with her life and times. I have had seve...

Play Ball!

Anyone bored enough to have read this entire blog, will recall how much fun we had last summer, going to South Bend Silverhawks games. We were going three and four times a week, sometimes. So it was w...

Thrilled to be Newsless

Well, anyone interested will be happy to hear that I have NOTHING to report except that Keely is thriving. No illness, no hives, nothing. Of course, the nature of this beast is that it usually portend...

Keely’s Word of the Day

Keely’s word of the day: Mushrash (n) The blue line on your lip after a berry Slushee. We kept telling Keely she had a Slushee mustache to which she replied, "I don’t got no mushrash!!" We...

A Cry in the Dark

Ah, apologies in advance to the poor reader who dares to venture here. I know I want to write, but coherence once again escapes me. Keely is doing well, to all appearances. Her bloodwork has rebounde...

Peeking out of the sand is dangerous!

First for the important stuff. Keely's respiratory "thing" has receded. The cough is gone and the runny nose is as well, for the most part. Her visit yesterday, or actually Tuesday, showed her labs ha...

Real Life and Poo!

We drove to the lobby to check out of GKTW. They take a lot of pictures while you're there, and send you with a disc of all the pictures they've taken. They also give you a duplicate star like the one...

Back to the Vacation

For whatever reason, I had the most fun at Hollywood Studios. It might have been that we again got there late, and therefore left wanting more, instead of dragging butt to the car. I don't know. Right...

Home Again

Well, they cut us loose this morning. She's perkier than when she went, but her counts are actually worse than when we got there. She'd had an upper respiratory thing brewing for a month, but if you i...

Back in the Hospital

As you might have heard, Keely is in the hospital for a bit. She has had a tenacious respiratory thing going for a while, but I think something else snuck in the back door. She sprang a 102 temp on We...
