About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
Josh Bowker is an amiable looking character with reasonably long curly hair, he is most commonly found at home listening to music usually of some folky, psychedelic, alternative, country americanaish variety, making his own music, drinking tea and gorging himself on biscuits, or wandering the streets of Bury St Edmunds.
Josh is a multi-instrumentalist (though not quite as multi as he would like, mandolin, banjo, piano, these are just a few of the instruments Josh is proficient enough to play three blind mice on, but one day wishes to master). Josh first picked up the bass guitar at the age of fourteen and soon decided "hmm, I'm rather good at this (in a very non-egotistical way), I think I'll try and make a living out of it". Then one day at the age of fifteen Josh thought "hmm, well I can play bass rather well, I think I'll try the guitar" so Josh bought himself a telecaster. Whilst simultaneously learning guitar and bass Josh discovered he wasn't a half bad baritone either, so he started singing and writing his own songs.
Josh has played with several bands, most notably is Hector's Liberty, along with occasional co-writer and Josh's musical soul mate Jono Absolon, gigging buddy, Luke Sidaway, and, various different drummers and rhythm guitarists. He has also played and sang for Feline Monsters, and Is currently(ish) one half of acoustic duo Kurt & Josh who have an unreleased EP entitled "Ninjas of The Catering World" (you think thats weird check out the names of the songs on said EP, wacky names appears to have been the order of the day, well for Josh anyway, Kurt just nods and smiles with a quiet air of desperation about him that pleas; "Will this crazy hippie just leave me be!")
Despite these various projects, Josh likes to work alone, and this page is the result of his solo musical endeavors. Josh's style has best been described by Jimi Andrews (with whom Josh once attended a music performance diploma thingy m' bob) as "funky, folky, psychedelic, britpop" But that was ages ago when Josh did in fact play funky folky psychedelic britpop, now it tends to lean more towards the folk, and not much else on that list, perhaps some shades of psychedelia, but now with added countryesque overtones.
One more thing Josh likes to talk about himself in the third person

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: I'm working on it, in a manner of speaking.
Band Members: Josh Bowker and Sandy Seagull (thats my guitar)

And Kurt Brown played electric guitar on Don't Hex My Boots.
If you would like to collaborate, don't hesitate to ask.
Influences: Chronologically:
My family - they have to influence you really. Specifically my Popa; Alfred Delvalle, a greater man there has never been.
My friends - made me want to play an instrument.
Dave Daltrey - taught me how to play, got me into song-writing.
JJ & Johnny Pugh - set musical standards to aspire to.
Old Tamla Motown records - The music I was raised on.
Kula Shaker - the best live band on earth.
The Byrds - inspired my use of the 12 string.
Syd Barrett - the first person to send shivers down my spine.
Ginger - for about three months I listened to nothing but the Valor Del Corazon album, and you should do the same.
Bert Jansh - turned me onto folk.
Richard Thompson - listen to "Night Comes In" and you will understand
Counting Crows - This band is a musical melting pot, a goldmine of inspiration.
Ryan Adams - The first time I listened to Heartbreaker, if it were not for obscenities I would have been speechless.
Emmylou Harris - furthered my love for country music like no other recording artist.
Okkervil River - I first saw them at latitude 08 one of the best bands I have ever head the pleasure to listen too, I actually kind of wish I was in this band, when I get stuck writing a song I think, "what would Will Sheff do?"
Of course there are more I just think these are the ones who really need listing. I'm sure there will be others added in the future.
Sounds Like: Some crazy-haired hippie thats been let loose on a rickenbacker 12 string and a seagull acoustic!
"Its like being sung to by a very talented mop" - Catherine.
"your music is sort of, funky, folky, psychedelic, britpop" - Jimi.
