Joe Davidian Trio

About Me

MyGen Profile Generator The Joe Davidian Trio was formed in Miami, Florida in 2003 as an outgrowth of the prestigious University of Miami Concert Jazz Band, featuring Joe Davidian on piano, Jamie Ousley on bass, and Austin McMahon on drums. The trio members, each with a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance, made an instant musical connection in their approach to playing standards and originals by performing regularly at various Miami venues.
JD3 has since performed at festivals around the country, including Festival Miami and Burlington Vermont’s Discover Jazz Festival, and recently headlined the Ballydehob International Jazz Festival in Ireland in May 2009.
The Joe Davidian Trio has backed a who’s who of jazz artists, including Dave Liebman, Carmen Lundy, Bob Mintzer, Greg Abate and Ira Sullivan. Currently, the trio is performing around the U.S. and internationally, and has just released a new album of original compositions, entitled "Silent Fire."

"There are many craftsmen who paint pleasantly the surface appearances and are very clever at it. There are always a few who get at and feel the undercurrent, and these simply use the surface appearances, selecting them and using them as tools to express the undercurrent, the real life. If I cannot feel an undercurrent, then I see only a series of things. They may be attractive and novel at first, but soon grow tiresome." -from "The Art Spirit" by Robert Henri
