Dutch Orange Day

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am Queen Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgrad, Queen of the Netherlands.
I was born on the 31st of January, 1938. I was born Princess of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau and Princess of Lippe-Biesterfield. I am the first born of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernhard.
My mother was born on the 30th April, which is the official Koninginnedag in the Netherlands. When I became Queen on this day in 1980, it was decided that the 30th April was to remain the official day of celebration, in my mother’s honour. In 1981, I moved from Lage Vuursche to The Hague, the seat of government, and it is my current place of residence.
Dutch Orange Day (Koninginnedeg as it is known in Holland) is a celebration of my mother's, Queen Juliana, birthday. It is a holiday where the entire nation celebrates by having huge street parties from the biggest cities to the smallest villages. Because of my family name, Orange has become the national colour of the Netherlands: hence Dutch Orange Day!
Here in Victoria there is the largest collection of Dutchies outside of the Netherlands. thats why, on Sunday, APRIL 27th we are celebrating the 4th Dutch Orange Day. again it will be held at Queensbridge Square in Melbourne's CBD.
Mr Whiskers will be there to keep the kids entertained and Doughboy will also be playing a few sets on the day! we will also have a few roving entertainers around to keep you smiling throughout the day!
Dutch delicacies such as poffertjes and croquettes will be on offer as is Grolsch Beer in our beer garden.
Activities start at 11am
