I am here for Friends

About Me

I love all things rock & metal! I play GUITAR and have a B.C. Rich Body Art Ironbird, Washburn, Ibanez RG series and Cort Z-42 I love piercings and tatoos! My friends are the best! gigging travelling I'm VEGAN and proud! AND I'm a FULL-FRONTAL HARDCORE FEMINIST!!!I began playing guitar when I was 11 years old, it all began when my primary school came up with the idea of holding free guitar lessons for a term. I decided to give it a go and immedietly fell in love with it! So I carried on having lessons through most of my schooling. When I was 14, after begging and whining at my parents to give me the electric guitar that I wanted, they finally gave in and i officially became the owner of a luscious red Washburn guitar!I was so addicted to playing guitar that I even used to play it before I went to school in the mornings. On a day that I had my guitar lesson I would ditch my friends at lunchtime and go and practise over metallica licks in the music block. While sitting in a classroom being bored out of my mind, I would run over new scales and licks that I had recently learned on the guitar, I would run over them in my mind just to make sure that when I got home I would not have forgotten them!I'd play guitar straight away after school and all weekend, it came above everything else! Homework, friends, trips out, whatever, my guitar came and still does come first!I went to Guitar Academy in London and did my first pub gig when I was 15. I played 'I like Rock' by Paul Gilbert to a hall full of people at a school event, I had no band up there with me so it was a one woman show for the song! I went to a girls school and was the only person in my music class who played electric guitar, which made me kind of isolated and frustrated at not having anyone I could talk about distortion pedals, B.C Rich guitars and Slash solos with! I had my first ever rock band when I was 15, but I had always wanted to be in a death metal band so that's what I did until the age of about 19. My dreams of one day attending Guitar Institute always occupied my mind every day. So at the age of 17 I decided to quit school and head off for the course that I always wanted to do!We covered all different styles, sight reading, aural training, songwriting, theory, performing skills etc.. I finally had a real reason to play guitar! No-one could critise my for being obsessed now as had people done before, because now, I was officially meant to be playing guitar 24 hours a day! While still on my course, when I was 18 I began to teach guitar as a private tutor. I had people from the huge age range of 5 years old to 60 who learnt guitar with me! But my dreams of being a performing musician never left me, I am now in a number of different bands!I still practise everything I did at Guitar Institute, sight reading, aural skills, improvising etc... and have made alot of friends! I even won an award for the most 'improved guitar student 2008!' at my graduation! I am always working on my career and having fun in the process! I want to inspire more people to play guitar and head off the dreams that we all have...
