Hailing from the unlikely rock and roll hotbeds of Grand Forks and Fargo, North Dakota, Faster On Building play a technically accomplished blend of modern post-hardcore and experimental indie rock that commands listener attention. Consisting of guitarist Jonny Dobmeier, bassist Donny Jenson, and drummer Corey Johnson, the band crafts intricate songs that are as loud and spastic as they are winding and upbeat. It’s a sound that would make you want to pump your fist in the air, if only you weren’t so busy counting out rhythms on your abacus while trying to keep up with what the trio is doing.Rather than being complex for the sake of complexity, however, it’s readily apparent that Faster On Building are more interested in playing music than merely impressing audiences with guitar acrobatics and indecipherable time signatures. The band’s self-titled EP contains four tracks of tightly controlled chaos, displaying a mastery of their instruments that can only come from years of devoted practice. The group’s immense talent shines through even more so live, as evidenced by their deafening performances.Faster On Building is planning on heading back into the studio to record a full-length release this winter. If the present for Faster On Building looks bright, then their future is positively blinding. Get stoked.
