These are my words-I've never said before-I think I'm doin' okay

About Me

I am a creature of habit. I swear like a sailor. I drive certain routes, even if there is a more convenient one. I believe in the mythological. Fairies and dragons do "exist." There is a Middle Earth. My friends and family mean the world to me. They will ALWAYS come first. People tell me I need to put me first sometimes. I find that hard to do. Do people take advantage of that? Yes. I believe in karma though. I love to wear jeans, tank tops and sandals. That's what I want to be wearing when I leave this life for the next. None of the fancy crap just because that's what society says is right. Morbid thought...yes, but it's something we all need to think about some time. I have two cats. I love them more than life. I love to cook, especially for other people. It's an outlet for me. I love to laugh and play. I love to be outside. I especially love the beach. Again, it's an outlet for me. If I can't be by the beach, any type of aquatic environment is good for me. I have learned that I have a bit of a green thumb. I am very proud of my "garden" out on my patio. I can't wait to have a yard. Everyone has enough shit in thier lives. I don't need the drama. There's enough of that at work. I prefer to do without it. As of now, I am a prefessional server/bartender. That's what I do. I love it. I get to meet great people every day. I love to be able to talk to people, and make them happy. If I'm not cooking the food/making the drinks, I want to at least be serving them. I'm also a trainer at work. There is a huge part of me that loves the "teaching" aspect of my job. I thoroughly believe that we, as teachers, make the first impression. Make it a lasting one.

Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over it if that trust is ever broken.

You Are Internal - Realist - Powerful
You feel your life is controlled internally. If you want something, you make it happen. You don't wait around for things to go your way. You value your independence and don't like others to have control. You are a realist when it comes to luck. You don't attribute everything to luck, but you do know some things are random. ....do you believe in fairies?

I told you they exist! I found their houses!

Pixie in English folklore is a sprite or fairy. The pixie is commonly represented as a feisty imp who delights in making mischief.

It took Disney artists 12 years and hundreds of sketches before Tinker Bell was fully realized as we know her today.

...do you trust me?

Except for Bootstrap Bill, Davy Jones and his scurvy 18-man crew on the Flying Dutchman were completely computer generated. And that huge water wheel that rolls during the swordfight between Sparrow, Turner and Norrington weighed in at 1800 pounds and stood 18 feet tall.

Myspace Layouts

Some flicks I like...anything Disney (obviously), both Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Gladitator, Braveheart, The Crow, all 6 Star Wars flicks, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, all of the Harry Potter flicks, Because of Winn-Dixie, The Notebook (the book is WAY better), Sweet Home Alabama, Waiting, Under the Tuscan Sun, Cruel Intentions, Hook, The Patriot, Last of the Mohicans, The Prestige, pretty much anything funny, been on a bit of a "horror" flick kick lately-all 3 Saw movies are pretty good, all the Hannibal flicks

Television:

Not too much of a television watcher, except when I get depressed. I LOVE watching friends. None of those episodes ever get old. Other stuff...What Not to Wear, Free Style, 30-Minute Meals, Everyday Italian, Paula's Home Cooking, That 70's Show, Trading Spaces, Mission: Organization, Design Remix, all the Law & Order series-especially SVU, Everybody Loves Raymond, Sex in the City. Oh yeah, I make sure I watch Heroes every Monday too. Haven't been addicted to a show like that since Friends was on Thursday nights. :D

Books:

Currently reading The Present by Spencer Johnson and Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. I'm always reading a couple of magazines.

My favorite author is Maeve Binchy. She manages to get you so into her characters and settings that you can't put down her books. I've been able to "relate" with a few of the characters in the last couple of books I've read by her, so I've included some excerpts.

Maria laughed. "You make me feel much better. I didn't think I would laugh again," she said, putting her hand on the older woman's arm. "Yes, you will," Vonni promised her. "Cry a lot, but laugh as well. It's how we survive." From Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy

"That's different, Bill, believe me. There's something absolutely earthshaking about the love you have for your child, it's unconditional." From Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy.

"I know." Maria was weeping now. "And last night I felt strong and as if his spirit were still here. That feeling has gone today." From Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy

"We'll waste no time on regrets though, will we?" he inquired. "No, I agree, regrets are useless. Destructive even." From Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy

Laddy knew that God had wanted them, that it was their time, but all through the years he wondered why God had chosen that way. From Evening Class by Maeve Binchy

...I love all of the Disney Fairy books!

My sister sent me the book Swan by Frances Mayes. It's a really good read. She is such a descriptive writer. You really can "see" and "feel" everything she writes about. It almost feels as if you are there. Here are a couple excerpts from Swan that really caught me.

"Through the years, the Masons sold off pieces of property and now people were moving out of the old houses in town to build squat brick ranch-style houses along the road. J.J. glanced at the waterlogged lot he'd just sold to the Covenant Pentecostal Church. A worthless piece of Mason land J.J. never expected to sell. The church members were battling over drinking and dancing, and some loudmouths intended to split off and build their own church where no one could have a lick of fun. May the mosquitos lift them by the seat of the pants."

"On Carrie's Island she wore white sandals, which she would kick off in sandy places and dangle from her fingers. When she leaned forward in her bathing suit, he could see a rim of white sand on her breasts and the sheen of suntan oil, which smelled like coconut and sunlight. Her charm bracelet jangled, and holding his and Ginger's hangs, sometimes she'd do a little dance step and pull them along. All summer they'd played canasta, Monopoly, Chinese checkers, and Parcheesi. In the hottest part of the day, she made pimento cheese sandwiches, opened big bags of potato chips, and the three of them sat in the breezeway drinking lemonade and playing penny ante poker. He could still hear the waves breaking, then the quick sluicing back into the sea through banks of coquina shells, a sound like breathing in through clenched teeth."

"Sonny didn't like it from the start, but Aileen was awestruck by her promotion. That first week Sonny shook her by the shoulders, demanding to know if Big Jim pawed her, and she'd screamed that not everyone was as sex mad as he was. Sonny went sour fast for her. She couldn't remember why she'd married him, though he'd dazzled her at sixteen, stopping in front of her house in his pickup. She'd run out when he blew the horn. Elbow out the window, hair blond as hers, he smiled and cracked his gum. He kept a pack of Camels tucked into his rolled-up T-shirt sleeve. They went bowling and to the bush-league ball games. He parked on country roads and rolled out a thin mattress in the bed of the pickup. Aileen had been with enough boys by then to know they weren't supposed to fire off immediately, but Sonny didn't seem to mind twenty-second sex. They hadn't been dating three weeks when he started getting mad if she even talked to another man. Fool that she was, she took his jealousy for love."

"I am sorry you have to go-I will be longing for you and I will miss your face."

"Glancing east, across the knee-high cotton, she saw slats of gray rain in the distance, moving toward her, racing the car toward some intersection up ahead. Her father used to call it the walking rain and she loved the figure of speech. Rain walking across the ground, a change in the weather visible and stalking. Around Swan you always must be alert to nature. Porous limestone suddenly can collapse in a perfect circle, leaving a green sinkhole pond of infinite depth. A tornado can appear on the horizon, a clear conical image imprinted against the vast sky. Or a hurricane, with a secret eye trained on who know what or where."

"At a corner house, he stopped at a row of cherry trees where jays dove for the last fruit. The perfume of star jasmine along the garden wall fused with sprawling pink trumpet vine and the raucous cries of the birds. He stood and let the sensationos gather. The color of the shuttered house reminded him of the light that rocks out of a cantaloupe when you split it open. What if he lived there instead of Swan? Stepped out to clip the ferns that hung along an upstairs balcony. Far inside the house, he could see a child in the kitchen. Their lives in a place I don't know. Then the moment broke. He walked on. Some houses seemed to be mostly garage. This squashed together, you could hear your neighbor fart, he thought."

Heroes:

My friends and family....I would not be who I am today without each and everyone of them in my life.

Aaron Ratliff....he showed me that there are still good things in this world; he also taught me to live each day as if it is my last. You will not be forgotten.
