My name is Steven John Sim and I am 33 years old.I was born on 9th February 1975 and have lived in the wee village of Cornhill between Banff and Keith all of my life.At first, I went to Ordiquhill Primary School but, when I was 8 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour and had to have an operation to remove it. I had a shunt passed which has blocked a few times and I’ve had to have another operation to get another one passed. .
Immediately afterwards I was in a coma and was diagnosed as possibly being in a Permanent Vegetative State, but was left to recover in hospital for a whole year. That left me physically disabled in a wheelchair.After coming home I soon went back to Ordiquhill and fitted in pretty well. Everyone was so accommodating. I also went back to the cub scouts and really enjoyed my time there. After leaving primary school, I went to Banff Academy and they had to install a lift. During my secondary education I broke my leg and was diagnosed with brittle bone disease. Afterwards I tried to go to Motherwell College but took an epileptic fit so had to return home and eventually went on to Moray College in Elgin where I completed an HNC. Also I did a distance learning course from Aberdeen College.I have always liked music. When I was young I learned how to play the piano and could still play the keyboard. I enjoy country music and some pop music – mainly from the 50’s/60’s/70’s and have a soft spot for the 80’s. I enjoyed going to country music concerts and dance/cabaret style nights out where I sometimes went up for a whirl in my wheelchair and sang along!I always enjoy having a good chat and meeting friends and would hope to meet some new people through My Space.I enjoy doing crosswords and Sudoku and watching T.V. a good bit – I like nature programmes, light comedy, science programmes, quiz shows (every day I enjoy trying the words and number games on Countdown!)Apart from that, I spend a lot of time at my PC and enjoy playing computer games.I’m not a sporty person and don’t like football.As for hobbies, I collect stamps, coins and autographs.
