Pluto Revolts was conceived in December 2007, a month that also marked a period of significant reawakening for Cincinnati, Ohio vocalist/songwriter Benjamin James. Having spent the better part of a decade writing music from punk rock to pop rock for both indie and major labels alike, and performing everywhere from coffee shops to Japan's finest rock clubs with his former band Bottom Line, it was that December James realized the only way for all of those years of effort to finally pay off would be to shift his songwriting into an entirely new project. Even down to the name itself signifying “rebirth,†with Pluto Revolts, James sheds his proverbial old skin to reveal a rawer, more unique version of himself. The result is a self-produced debut EP called Suffer No Delusions, comprised of five songs showcasing a variety of influences, as well as previously untapped honesty and vulnerability. Fusing his undying love for alternative rock with modern, electronic production and an undeniable pop sensibility, James was able to make the most personally defining music of his career. Possibly what’s best about the EP, completed in February 2008 and released digitally in March, is that it’s available to download for free (with the option of donating) directly from the band’s website, serving as just another demonstration of James’ desire to use Pluto Revolts to test as many boundaries as possible and get music to fans on a much faster and more personal basis.
