About Me
Great news just in: Our Gig at the famous Ace Café has been confirmed. This is the 10th Anniversary of the tragic death of our good friend and mentor Screaming Lord Sutch. Every year since his death, a gathering of heavy friends has taken place in North London celebrating the life and good times of the crown prince of horror, the 5th Earl of Harrow Lord Sutch. This year, we are booked to play our tribute show so expect a lot of blood, shinanigans and mayhem as we blast through a fast paced set including many Sutch numbers including Jack The Ripper, Til The Following Night, Hog For You Baby and Murder In The Graveyard.
EXTRA! EXTRA! EXTRA!
We have now received the promotional commemorative T Shirts, which will be on sale on the night. Sponsored by William Hill bookmakers. Also big thanks to Bob Gilbert and Vivien of Holloway for the help in promotion and sponsorship.
So... What is Shock 'n' Roll?
Well, I guess it's a mixture of Horror, Rock 'n' Roll, Rockabilly with a twist of the unexpected. Hard to describe in words and also hard to create on stage. I was always facinated by the macabre and unusual things in life and always had a love of music. Screaming Lord Sutch was the first person I came across who combined the two things together and from then on, it was just a case of coming up with new ideas and variations on other peoples ideas. Other strong influences in the development of Shock 'n' Roll have been: The Cramps (crazy raw rock 'n' roll) Screaming Jay Hawkins (the original VooDoo prince of R&B, with a voice like no other), Alice Cooper (If you want to see a Rock & Horror show go see Alice. Top class gruesome illusions, excellently written songs, and what a showman). So really I would say if I had to describe what Shock 'n' Roll was, that it is taking the best of all music, adding a lot of blood and madness, then (usually unrehearsed) going and throwing it in the face of unsuspecting audiences.
Where do you find Shock 'n' Roll?
Basically, anyplace where you find live music, where they have asked us to play. From Motorbike Club Rallies to local pubs, from Rock 'n' Roll weekends to Monster Raving Loony Party events. For over 16 years, in various line-ups, we have been out, performing and developing our music and our show. Which features: Magic, Sword Swallowing, Fire Breathing and some other occasional crazy stunts.
Tales From The Darkside
Many people will already know that during the last part of 2006 and the first part of 2007, I was hard at work writing some new songs and The Savages entered the recording studio for the second time (their first very short album 'Sex, Blood & Rock 'n' Roll having been recorded in the year of Lord Sutch's tragic death), to record the latest album "Tales From The Darkside'. For the first time, we ventured into songs I have written myself and the album has proven to be relatively popular.
