After a five year hiatus, the death of founding member Craig Pounder and a number of line-up changes, Brass Knuckle Therapy are back and stronger than ever with the release of their self titled release on Spinerazor Records"We've survived what would have killed about a million other bands," says Brass Knuckle Therapy frontman Psycho Dave. We all grew up hard and came from nothing, we have working class ethics. We are not afraid to get our hands dirty to get the job done. Having nothing has fueled us to go out and get everything. Now with the release, Brass Knuckle Therapy are about to give a huge middle finger to their detractors, while simultaneously raising the bar for hard rock bands everywhere. Combing elements of punk rock, metal and classic rock, Brass Knuckle Therapy have more in common with bands like Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Agnostic Front, than anything currently dominating the airwaves. We like the fact that our music sticks out like sore thumb, says Big D. Wed rather forge our own path than follow any trends.Born out of contempt for mediocre rock radio and Tribute bands, Brass Knuckle Therapy was formed during the early '90s when bands like the Barenaked Ladies and Crash Test Dummies were dominating music. Created by frontman Psycho Dave and guitarist Big D when they met at the legendary Toronto rock bar The Gas Works. We were just a bunch of guys who used to drink together at this bar, The Gas Works, says Big D. We just got tired of seeing the same old tribute bands, dressed up like their favorite rock stars doing bad covers. So we formed the band and started to shake things up.Fueled by a DIY- "do it yourself" - attitude, Brass Knuckle Therapy has earned a reputation as one of Canada's hardest working bands. The band's straight-ahead, balls to the wall approach to rock has allowed them to share stages with the likes of W.A.S.P., the Stranglers, Suicidal Tendencies, and Slick Toxic and win critical acclaim from the likes of Metal Edge, EYE, The Toronto Star and garnered them an appearance on Much Music's The Power Hour.Currently the band is receiving national attention in the form of nationwide attention as a part of Sleeman Brewery's Label Free Music campaign. As a part of the campaign, Brass Knuckle Therapy's music is being used in a series of national radio and television advertisements that promote underground music across the country. The attention has exposed the band and their music to a whole new audience. After performing countless shows across Canada, the band was struck by tragedy when founding member and guitarist Craig Pounder was tragically killed by a brain aneurism. Its ironic that only about 2 years after writing the song Death Is Certain Craig would actually pass away, says Psycho Dave reflecting. We had written it because we had lost so many friends in the past. This new album wasnt influenced by Craigs death but he has definitely been an inspiration to the members of the band and his spirit lives on in the music and we feel that he travels with us where ever we play.Recorded at Iguana Studios, and others at Signal To Noise in Toronto with producers Sean Munavish and Rob Sanzo, Brass Knuckle Therapys self-titled the album takes things to a whole new level. Armed with an arsenal of charging guitar riffs and a fuck you attitude, Brass Knuckle Therapy is guaranteed to deliver a knock-out punch of razor-edged rock and roll.
