So, buy it today...Thanks!Old: I grew up on a dairy farm in upstate New York, where he began writing songs at the age of 14. My focus has been on lyrics and creating songs with meaning; songs about life, love, death, family, and justice. Most of my early work was done accapella (and in front of a live audience of holstein heifers!) until friends gave me an old guitar and taught me a few chords (years later, after going to Cornell, getting married, having three children, etc..). Now with over 200 songs (and a life of experiences, including the unexpected early deaths of two sisters, a divorce, and "coming out" in 2000), I'm ready to share my personal journey through song. Influences: I proudly confess to be influenced by my favorite artist, Olivia Newton-John. Her sensibility in her singing and songwriting has always touched and inspired me, as well as her humility. She’s beautiful - inside and out. I have almost all of her recordings, although my first record album was Helen Reddy’s, "Long Hard Climb." As a teenager, I bought many records and had more than one from artists like Bob Seger, Pat Benatar, Daryl Hall and John Oates, John Mellancamp, Foreigner, the Eagles, Don Henley, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I have a special fondness for melancholy singer, Karla Bonoff. I loved Jackson Browne’s "Hold On Hold Out" LP. Later, I had tapes and CDs of Tina Turner, Prince, and Stevie Nicks. I couldn’t stop listening and dancing to Stevie’s "Wild Hearts," Tina’s "Private Dancer" and Prince’s "Purple Rain." I have also enjoyed a number of country artists over the years, such as Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, Garth Brooks, John Berry, and Mary Chapin-Carpenter. One of my favorite artists currently is Shawn Colvin.
