Wanda An Undiscovered Jewel In The Music Industry

About Me

Wanda - As young as the age of 4 Wanda, knew she had a special talent. By the age of 6 years old, she was dreaming of being an entertainer. Dancing and singing in the living room was like being on stage for her. Family and friends would gather around and encourage her to do more, often the same stint over and over again. This Philadelphia native’s parents also had a talent for singing. Her mother sang in the church choir all through her childhood and adolescent years and her father also pursued a singing career, (Member of the former Philadelphia based Doo-Wop group called “The Superbs”, (early 1960’s), known for recording the song called “Beans”). By the age 10, she performed in her first talent show. Wanda wanted to attend ‘The Philadelphia High School of performing Arts’, but the opportunity never arose due to her living in another state. As the years moved along more shows followed, some for school, local community showcases and local television (Channel 12 of Philadelphia). She also sang for several private functions, (funerals, weddings, and recreational functions for family and friends). Some of her favorite artists are Whitney Houston, Billie Holiday, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Tina Marie and too many other greats to mention.Wanda has been in a couple of singing groups. “It was quite an experience that I don’t regret, I really learned a lot”. She has also worked with other talented artists such as Bunny Sigler (Internationally known writer and recording artist), Joseph "Street" Stonestreet (former, original member of the R&B group ‘Blackstreet’), Marc Nelson (R&B group "Az-Yet"), Jamaican Reggae artists "TrumanChewstick" (formerly worked with the Marley Brothers) and Yami Bolo, Carl Henry (Canadian artist of CeSoul Records/Universal Canada), James "Kamal" Gray (of "The Roots") Larry Gold (Internationally known cello player) and many other great talented people. She had the first single “Feel So Good” (pka Nanda), which appeared on Larry Gold’s compilation album (Larry Gold Presents Don Cello and Friends), which was released May of 2003 in Europe and August of 2003 in the United States. Also co-wrote and sang (verses and chorus/hook) on Carl Henry's Album the song "Back It Up" (released November 2005) and vocally backed (verses and chorus/hook from beginning to end) Nordia Witter's song "Alone Tonight" (official release date unknown).Wanda writes, arranges and produces her own songs and also has co-produced some of her music. “I can write any kind of song, gospel, R&B, pop, hip-hop, neosoul, blues, even country, music is feel and emotion to me.”
