Dj.shErOck* A native of Los Angeles currently living in New York Dj.shErOck began her career in music as a singer/songwriter, and dancer. While still living in Los Angeles Dj.shErOck performed with musical artists, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, Babyface, Macy Gray, Tribe Called Quest and Matchbox 20, to name a few. In 2002 she worked with producers Cole (Dallas Austin, Queen Latifah, Van Hunt), Javier Mosley and Taylor Made, of Oddball Entertainment to produce her solo album, Escence, Mindfully Exquisite. Dj.shErOck toured London for a year as musical artist, Escence performing songs from her album. This exposure gave Escence the opportunity for her music to be featured in a film, “Gods Waiting List”, (Roger Guenveur Smith, “Do the Right Thing”, “Eve’s Bayou”, “A Huey P. Newton Story”)( Nicki Micheaux, “Their Eyes Were Watching God”).
Now taking a hiatus from performing her own music due to her desire to only work with the best producers, Dj.shErOck has found a creative outlet in the art of dj’ing. For Dj.shErOck dj’ing is a great way to express her passion for music. Dj.shErOck has residencies in some of New York's hottest spots. A weekly event "Eden", at the Coffee Shop Lounge, the monthly party "In the Mood", with Talib Kweli, and D.J. Eque, and with the infamous Rouge Coquette Burlesque Show. In addition to her residencies, she has also become a part of the Ubiquita NYC family.
Dj.shErOck has been a recurring guest in Los Angeles for the "Sweeter Life", at The Room, Hollywood, with Vikter Duplaix , and Garth Trinidad (KCRW, Chocolate City). She is the star D.J., of the The Sex Mobile Movement promotion tour with artist/producer Cole. Due to her versitilatly as a D.J. she is highly sought after for corporate events, in store promotions, (Funky LaLa, and Te' Casan shoe gallery) and private events (Marc Jacobs). This self taught D.J., has made a name for herself and continues to be a well sought after Dj in the New York scene, and worldwide. Dj.shErOck spins a collective mix of world music, soulful house, eccentric dance beats, tribal beats, rock ‘n’ roll, hip hop, reggae and underground tracks, consistently keeping herself aware of what is new and hot in music.
Music and dance are an art form for Dj.shErOck., therefore she makes sure that she is playing the finest in music whether it is a hot dance track or just something to lounge to. Dj.shErOck, studies the crowd's reaction to certain sounds and constantly thinks about new ways to mix songs, rhythms and beats, she is consistently working on perfecting her skills and knowledge of music in order to sustain a great energy and vibe on the dance floor. Dj.shErOck’ love of music and constant evolution has definitely made her one of New York’s premier female Dj’s.
