About Me

Magic is an effort to alter one's reality through exercise of the human will. Making music is one of my favorite forms of magic. My music itself is a reflection of who I am and who I've been. It's all there, from childhood to college parties, my philosophical & spiritual development, my politics, and the incredible power of my nerd-culture imagination. Not to mention an understanding of artistic conventions, wordplay and vocabulary. (L2rap, n00bcakes)I've been writing rhymes for like 7 years. After a few years with the rock/hip hop fusion group Series 8, myself and RJR-C broke away to begin our own hip hop group - Humanity's Last. Music is a hobby for me at this point, and I'll ride it as far as it takes me, but I'm gonna continue to change the world even without rapping.Discography: In addition to a slew of samplers, Humanity's Last has released two albums. just ether is a mystical journey through the universal medium, and Tools to Help You Study is intended to be a psychoactive musical trip. I then completed my first solo EP, a collection of slept-on tracks called wakeupsleeper. I'm currently finishing up production on a full-length LP of original solo material called the Naming, which is an alchemical blend of my inner geek and my etheric body. This album includes material dating from 2003 to the present, and features tracks originally intended for my humanitas project. In addition, I've done a number of guest appearances, and others are in the works.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.humanityslast.cjb.net
Band Members: I'm in a group called Humanity's Last with RJR-C (Richard J. Ruck-Chure). This page represents my solo material.
Influences: My primary influences are all prose writers, and I think I'm influenced much more strongly by authors than emcees. You might catch hints of Lovecraft, Alighieri, and others in my work.I'm not gonna make this one of those half-page lists of every good CD I own, but here are a small handful of my favorite musicians: Wu-Tang. Aesop Rock. The Mars Volta. Jay-Z. Nas. Doseone. DJ Quik. Marilyn Manson. Atmosphere. RJD2. Zion-I. A Perfect Circle. Rage Against the Machine. Tool. Nerd culture has a huge influence as well: World of Darkness, World of WarCraft (my main is Batini on Kilrogg server), Star Wars, whatever.
Sounds Like: Magick......and nerdery. I like to call it Geek-hop. I was spitting nerd-raps before I knew people had created a genre to classify such a thing, but I'd like to think I put a little more into it than that.
Record Label: Alkaloid Medium/Random Synesthesia
Type of Label: Indie

Touchdown

Yes, I dropped off the face of the planet. But not without purpose. Had to put my (non-musical) career first. Now that that situation seems to be resolved, I'm ready to start doing shows again. ...
