About Me

Hi. I'm Steven. I live off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and milk. Occasionally I'll eat real food, but only if someone buys it for me. I stay up till 5 in the morning studying greek, talking about stuff like logic and emotion, psychology, genetics, music, the future, the past, the God that saved/s me, our shortfalls, etc...Anywho, I write a lot of music, and I play Eugene (my guitar) all the time. It's not just a hobby to me, it's a tool I use to reflect on the glory of God. So I write my heart down on sheets of paper and share it in convenient mp3 format so you can hear it. If you listen closely, you can hear the thump of it pushing blood and various cells and nutrients through my body to feed it. I don't care if it sucks or not; it's honest, and it's me. If it were amazing and it wasn't me, then I'd quit, that's not something I'm willing to sacrifice. So enjoy listening to my heart, I certainly enjoyed all the steps it took in order to get it here.

Songs:
Innocence Again: This song was written by Switchfoot. It's my favorite song in the entire world, and it has been for years. I have been meaning to cover it, but every attempt so far has proved completely worthless. I almost gave up, because it was such a difficult song for me to make sound good, and then I found myself in Hawaii, with a completely fresh set of instruments for me to use. I grabbed an Ukulele, tuned my guitar to slack key, grabbed some congas and bongos, a cabasa, and it just fit perfectly. So here's the song with a bit of a local sound to it.
Paul's Hymn: The apostle Paul gave me the lyrics, you can find a translation of them in the book of Philippians chapter 2. As far as we know, it's an ancient poem. Paul could have written it, but he probably used it to explain the example found in Jesus Christ of releasing rights and abilities to save. Well, I figured the poem should be placed in a blend of melodies and harmonies, that seemed to be it's intention - so I translated the passage from Greek, and put music to the words, it's the Gospel.
Sufficiency: I am incapable of doing anything good, but God, in complete contrast to me, is absolutely capable of turning all things good.
The Zombie: This is a new version of one of my older recordings. I hooked up with a drummer named Ryan who is amazing, and spent a good 3 weeks hammering this thing out. I got me an electric guitar and wailed away. It was lots of fun, but also lots of work. I wrote this song when I was on a messed up sleep schedule so I felt like a zombie...and that's basically it. This may or may not be the pinnacle of my creations.
The Hypocrite: This one started as an acoustic song. I got a drummer, a bassist, and an electric guitar and completely rocked it. I'm pretty happy with what came out. As for the meaning - it's about me, and that's as much as I want to tell, to go in any deeper will be uncovering too much of what I try so hard to bury.
The Grave: This one is about two dear friends, one comforting the other.
I hope yall enjoy. I made this with GarageBand by apple. It's a great program, but in no way professional. I've been doing this stuff for like 3 years now, and it's been pretty fun. Thanks for listening, drop me a comment telling me what you think.

General: I like to skateboard. I am in love with milk. I play guitar, his name is Eugene. I write and record music, it should be loading/playing in the box to the right. I don't do it to be liked or to have people impressed with me, I do it to make much of the God that created me and is saving me. My intention is that my music lifts you to Him, that somehow His glory and strength is revealed to you through my music and that it leads you to worship Him and glorify Him because of His greatness.
