About Me

&nbsp&nbsp&nbspFormed by singer-songwriter D.J. (Dan) Kwas and brothers John and Mike Bartlein in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the summer of 1979, the Sidewalks performed their original blend of '60s American garage band pop and New Wave/punk at clubs in Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago for three and a half years before disbanding in January 1983. The band released one single -- "Natalie" -- which was a high-request tune on local college radio during the summer of 1981, and had their song "Rhythm Kids" -- a sly poke at the Catholic method of birth control -- included on a compilation album released by mainstream rock radio station WKTI in 1982.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp"Rhythm Kids", a custom CD-R of 15 Sidewalks songs including 10 studio tracks, three live cuts and two home recordings, is available for $9 at Hyped2Death&nbsp&nbsp&nbspA 14-song version of "Rhythm Kids" (minus one live track) is also available as a limited pressing 12-inch vinyl LP from Italian label Rave Up Records for 10 euros (about $15 U.S.).&nbsp&nbsp&nbspIndividual tracks can also be downloaded at soundclick.com
