May Hart joined her first band at 17, and never looked back. Singing and performing came naturally. The soulfulness she displays in her music is simply a gift, its rare and very difficult to teach. Always the student May Hart is inspired by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Ann Wilson of "Heart" and old school performers like Etta James and others. Music is universal and continues to inspire her. Being prepared by writing meaningful songs and singing from the heart hit a special note with fans. People started to talk about how they could feel the emotions in the songs. The internet buzz took off, all over the world people were logging on and sampling the May Hart Band CD, then purchasing it.
May Hart will be featured in the San Diego Union Tribune Newspaper, the number one newspaper in San Diego. Her article will be viewed by over 1.3 million people. The Newspaper's Music Critic pointed out what fans all over the world have always known all along, you don't need a major label to accumulate major sales, a major label is always a great option but you are not required to have one. May Hart's CD "May Hart Band" has had an astounding 800,000 in sales and downloads worldwide, and by this time next year we are looking at surpassing the one million mark, all these sales were without a major label and MySpace. People love good music, they buy music for their children and for themselves. Consumers are smart, people love a great deal and good music is out there. Music is a gift that can be given at anytime, it is not restricted to a particular season, people buy music because it moves them, and does what only music can, put a smile on your heart.
Even more remarkable, six songs off this CD competed against each other at the number 1,3,5 & 6 positions on the music charts, and then crossed over to the alternative charts and reached the 5th and 6th positions on the charts.
The song fueling this worldwide frenzy is song 2 which is a song May Hart wrote to help cope with the passing of her sister. She is pictured next to her on the MySpace photo. May Hart thought she was writing this song for herself, and when the word got out, she realized from the thousands of emails received that the song related to anyone who lost a loved one. The music industry is not dead, its just that moms, dads, and teenagers want to know they are getting the best value for their dollar, and that is exactly why May Hart is selling CD's. Parents can purchase music that is not offensive. No profanity, you can actually listen to the songs without turning the volume down because your expecting profanity to come through the speakers.
May Hart's MySpace is something new, as of 11-30-07, this is the first time she will appear on MySpace. This probably would not have happened for another year or so if not for fans asking her to get a MySpace page. This MySpace page is created by 18 yr fan Vanessa Vigliotti. "As a teenager we can get very emotional about things, and sometimes adults don't understand us, May's music has always been special to me and my friends, we put the CD on and listen to the songs until we fall alsleep, May has such an incredible voice and I was thrilled when she allowed me to create her Official MySpace Page."
