***Advocacy***
An Advocate is someone who is assigned your case, if requested. This person can perform many duties such as help negotiate down medical bills with doctors, hospitals and financial institutions; help with confusing medical correspondence; help in establishing payment plans; assist with applying for financial assistance from hospitals; negotiate payment options with collection agencies; help draft living will and powers of attorney; help find other organizations you may qualify for additional assistance from and much more.URGENT! WE NEED ADVOCATES!!!
Do you know someone who is a good listener? Good on the phone? Assertive, yet friendly? Responsible and goal oriented? Caring and supportive? Do you know someone who won’t take no for an answer, who stands up for what’s right, who is a go-getter? Do you know someone who can always get those erroneous phone bill charges reversed? If so, they are perfectly suited to be an Advocate! Advocates, just like every single person involved in RESCU are volunteers. This takes a certain kind of person who is selfless and determined. Volunteering is a time consuming undertaking, but the personal rewards are worth it. Advocates take on one case at a time, assisting that one person until the case is closed. If you are interested in talking to someone about what is involved in becoming a RESCU Advocate, please email Brande, of the Advocacy Program, at [email protected]. The more we grow as a foundation, the more need we have for volunteers. Please let us know if you or anyone you have any time to spare. Thank you.
