About Me
Take a breath of fresh air into the entertainment industries positive vibe artist that is building the bridge between rap, hip hop, reggae, and roots and culture music right here in the United States. Queen Ras A’sia has touched many soils on her life journey as a Soldier, Humanitarian, Black Panther, Musician, and Youth Educator. Being so deeply rooted in culture has made her aware of the challenges and struggles presented daily, but nether the less being determined and focused with wisdom, she is on the pivotal edge of things yet to come!!!
As a youth, (while her love for music was still growing) she excelled in basketball and set many still unbroken records, paving the way for others to follow. After high school she continued in her academic studies at Dowling College in New York where her major was Psychology. From those teenage years to present day, this globe trotter has taken stages in over sees places such as Germany, Budapest Hungary, Amsterdam, and Bosnia. Here in the states her list includes South Dakota (where she first discovered the mighty strength of a pen), New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, the Carolinas, Alabama, and California just to name a few. Her world wide travels assist in the joining between her love for the audience and her love for the most high “Jahâ€, which comes first in her life and the world watching an artists dream grow into a true artist reality.
The release of her first album “LUV ME OR LEAVE ME†came in 2005. When her video for the single Trod’en* Dis Life Of Mine hit the Underground Television show, it was a hit in her hometown and surrounding areas. This video still gets frequent rotation and also can be found on You Tube. After release of the video she began to wail out more fyah, and crossed stages with legendary roots and culture artist of today, such as Freddy McGregor, Bounty Killer, and Mr. Vegas, and also Lady Saw. This queen’s journey through the trenches of her personal and music life is a spiritual one because there is an overwhelming desire to inhale truth, peace, and equality which sets her out among the rest. The thirst to do, see, and be more sent her on another great conquest to satisfy the pounding curiosity of her collected works and chronicles from the pages of her notebook….this brought forth the second album.
With her newly created sound, the 2007 album “AH RASTA NOWâ€, led the public into a dictionary of a more developed and personal teachings from Queen A’sia’s hand book. Ah New Day (also known as Beautiful Black Babies), Dis One Thing, Bad Mind, and Runaway Love are her top four hits off the CD. On December 15th 2007, she set stage with artist Pressure, Taurus Riley, and Gyptian to bring forth these new chapters from the pages of her mind.
So one is to wonder what is next for Queen Ras A’sia? With more messages to give and fyah to burn, she is ready to take the international audience by storm… Again!! The Queen is working on a compilation album with her new family ROYAL STAR, outside of finishing chronicles for her junior album, prepping for her second video, and is set to perform onstage with Beres Hammond in August. Perhaps this is a lifestyle only talk show host, news anchors, and sports commentators enjoy but for Ras A’sia the big picture is the music and the message… not a life that is main stream.
The young and old can’t ignore being left with the lasting impression of royalty, peace, equal rights, justice, and over standing of the most high delivered by a blessed vessel. Enjoy the message in the music.
