Maria Manousaki was born in Johannesburg and grew up in Greece.
She has been playing the violin since she was 8.After completing the English Royal School of Music Violin examinations, she graduated from the Greek Conservatory "Filippos Nakas" with a jazz violinist degree. She received a scholarship for the world renown "Berklee College of Music" in Boston, USA, graduating in the year 2002 with honors in professional music.Maria has lived in Dubai where she performed in many prestigious events such as the International Film Festival in 2005 and 2006. She has also performed at the Madinat theatre in Mina Al Salam, and played in various hotels including the 7 star Burg Al Arab. During her stay there, she also performed in Quatar for the Queen's son's wedding.Maria now lives in Athens where she teaches and performs as a freelance musician covering diverse musical genres for many high-profile events.She has also appeared at the "Megaro Mousikis" Concert Hall a number of times with her current project "Drumvoice", a group founded by Petros Kourtis. "Drumvoice" consists of 6-10 percussionists featuring Maria on the Electric violin. They have appeared at the Badminton Theatre, the Olympic Stadium in Athens, the "Chrimatistirion Athinon" and the G.S.P stadium of Nikossia. In addition to that, Maria has also performed around the Middle East, New York and Boston areas.Even though Maria's musical influences come from a variety of different musicians and styles ranging from Jazz to Ethnic music, her style can be best categorized within the world music scene.Maria is also the founder and composer of the female electric string trio "CCBONNES". The group is based in the USA but tours during the summer.
