Adrian began playing classical guitar at the age of six and has been studying music ever since. Now a junior at NYU, Adrian majors in jazz guitar and composition. He recently got back from an Italian tour with his jazz group, The Afterthought Quartet , playing with world-renowned trumpeter Andy Gravish at such venues as The Blue Note in Milan, Ferrara's Torrione Jazz Club , Take Five Jazz Club in Bologna, and The Florence International Music Festival. He has also played such venues as World Café Live , Chris' Jazz Café , and the Cape May Jazz Festival, and wrote music featured regularly on the IFC Podcast . He also works as a writer, recently completing a book on his travels through Italy and currently keeping a blog (jazzinterviewseries.blogspot.com) based on an interviews series with jazz luminaries such as Ron Carter and Chico Hamilton held at Barnes & Noble in New York.
Adrian has performed in many pit orchestras for productions such as "Footloose," "A Light In The Piazza," "Little Shop Of Horrors," "Grease," Jeanine Tesori's "Violet," Alan Menken and Tim Rice's "King David," and The Who's "Tommy," playing a range of styles including jazz, rock, blues, gospel, funk, country, and classical on guitar, banjo, and mandolin.
At NYU, Adrian has studied guitar with Randy Johnston and Peter Bernstein and composition with Richard Shemaria. He has also worked in ensembles led by Brian Lynch, Jean Michel-Pilc, Ron McClure, and Martin Wind.
Adrian attended Settlement Music School in Philadelphia, studying classical guitar under William Peters and Marisol Rampolla. At Settlement he was selected to represent the school on numerous occasions: in master classes with Eliot Fisk, Nicholas Goluses, and Richard Provost; at the annual city-wide concert five times; and at various private functions. As a senior he received the Mark Huxsoll Performance Award and was runner up in the D’Addario Classical Guitar Competition at Ithaca College.
At the age of twelve, Adrian began studying jazz guitar with William Peters, and then later Craig Ebner. In high school, he went on to win three best soloist awards from the Cavalcade of Bands jazz festivals and was a recipient of the Lower Merion High School Jazz Band Service Award. During his senior year, he composed, performed, and recorded the film score to an hour-long independent feature named “Alone Together,” borrowing from a diverse number of musical genres including rock, jazz, funk, classical, techno, and bluegrass.
