Carol Sokoloff & Trio Espresso

Carol Sokoloff is a Canadian jazz vocalist and songwriter, performing in the Victoria, BC region with the excellent jazz combo Trio Espresso featuring Kenny Seidman, piano; James Young, acoustic bass and Kelby MacNayr, drums. Known for her warm vocals and an improvised approach to the standards, Carol Sokoloff is also a talented songwriter who is now creating 'New Standards' – songs with the style and feel of the American songbook. Indeed Carol had the good fortune to meet some of the great songwriters of that era, specifically the late great Harold Arlen and his collaborator, lyricist Yip Harburg.Their magic has somehow rubbed off and can be heard in the words and music of Sokoloff's original songs. The band is currently recording a long-awaited debut CD.
