About Me

Gosh, about me? I'm a radio DJ, a motorcyclist, a water polo referee (and ex-player), a professional thespian, a published author, a student, a professional computer technician, a Freemason, a gamer, an Eagle Scout, and a good friend. I graduated from SSU in 2005, am working on getting a collection of short stories published, and doing my best to see inspiration in all things. I've just been offered a job in the Operations department of Sonic.net which is very exciting and have also become initiated into the Petaluma-Hamilton Lodge #180 of Freemasons.I enjoy being a rock my friends can rely on, and sometimes I find it difficult to ask for help. As previously mentioned I have a love for theatre, a passion for writing, and a knack with math and computers. All in all I'm an enjoyable fellow to be around (or so say my friends), and I like to keep people I know happy. My nickname is "Poetics," and has been for some time. In addition to an online handle I've used for some time, it relates my relation to the written word -- Aristotle wrote "The Poetics," which was a guide for most all modern literary criticism. Interesting, no? On a literary note, my favorite quote and one that I will never forget: "I can swim."I tend to be on the gregarious side, trying to make new acquaintances and shake as many hands as possible -- I enjoy the attention and the possibility that such meetings will evolve into much longer-lasting friendships. A special note I should add: if you ever have a question of me, feel free to ask; the more direct the question the more direct the answer, but always truthful.

My Interests

I played Water Polo for more than a decade, swam for nearly as long, and in general have played sports since I was a kid (soccer, volleyball, track, et cetera). With the improving weather I am able to put my improved motorcycle skills to the test on the many roads and byways of the Northern Bay Area -- I started riding in December 2003 and don't foresee myself stopping any time soon.I'm (as elsewhere mentioned) an avid reader, a passionate actor, an unfetterable gamer, a thorough computer technician, a zealous writer, and a good friend. I guess that about sums me up. Scary I could do it in so little space!

I'd like to meet:

Good-natured and friendly people, folks I can chat with and not feel pressured to always be the life of the party. People interested in life and all it has to offer.

Music:

My single most-loved band? Hands-down it's Bad Religion. There are few artists I like as a whole (Muse, Nirvana, Tool, A Perfect Circle, and several others come to mind), but many artists have only a song or two I really enjoy hearing.I just put the cap on a four-year radio show (called The Poetics Week-in-Review) on my local campus station, and look forward to doing more shows, in bigger and broader markets, in the future!

Movies:

Dead Poet's Society, Donnie Darko, The Boondock Saints, Sneakers, Memento, Miyazaki's Spirited Away, Rounders, The Big Lebowski, 12 Angry Men, Tombstone, Amelie, Leon the Professional, Ronin, Poolhall Junkies, Freedom Downtime, 300, Sneakers, ...

Television:

Law & Order, Sports Night, FarScape, Cowboy Bebop, Jag

Books:

David Eddings and Terry Goodkind are my favorite authors, with Kevin Mitnick and Terry Brooks running close seconds. I read everything from Fantasy to Technical manuals (hey, I'm a dork), with a little Political Espionage thrown in the mix for flavor. If we're talking magazines, 2600 is my favorite by far.

Heroes:

My uncle and my late grandfather. The former for his perserverance, struggling against adversity and overcoming it; the latter for his years of service to others and his dedication to perfection.
