I don't pretend to be pretty/Sometimes I tend to talk dirty/I can be country or city/Welcome to my world - Josh Hoge, "Take It Or Leave It"
Much like his hometown Nashville, singer Josh Hoge represents Music City's competing spirits of tradition and rebellion.
A third-generation musician, who loves music, whiskey and rowdy good times, Hoge fits the profile of a typical, lifelong Nashville resident. But the 25-year-old is also part of a growing community of artists who call Nashville home, but do not ascribe to the city's time-honored twang.
As enjoyable as listening to big-deal studio produced songs might be, they're about as indicative of a musician's bare skill as Oscar night is of an actor's bare attractiveness. A few pros, some time and the right tools, and just about anybody can come out Hollywood glossy. Nashville based Josh Hoge's major-label-bred single "360"- part of what is his soon to be released major label debut since transitioning over to Columbia records, is a fine piece of polished pop-soul. But in the meantime, the singer has shown he's just as pretty in sweats and a t-shirt with his newly released BEDROOM SESSIONS VOL. 1 EP, a disc that was produced like you'd figure: in a bedroom studio over a couple of days with Hoge and his band, and minimal gussying. "360" shows up here too, as a stripped down, gravelly soul ballad, and Hoge's voice comes through just as limber and twice as expressive. You'll catch a few out of place hairs in the six-song disc, but they add to its laid-back, honest vibe. As charming as Hoge's BEDROOM SESSIONS feel, he's still at his best on stage. The singers taut falsetto weaving like a sexier version of Justin Timberlake's, his growl matching his talented brother Will's more rock-edged version, and just an all out vibe rarely seen anymore from stage. "Playing live and touring is something I've really started to love, and since making fans from my first single, and playing roughly 150 shows a year, I wanted to have something for them to purchase and listen to until my real studio album is released" says Hoge about putting out BEDROOM SESSIONS. If there is still a rawness left in the music business, and a realness left in certain artist, it is for sure to be found in Josh Hoge.
Steven Miller-- guitar Steven Miller aka Rick Danger --is a Dallas area singer/songwriter/guitarist who has gained a growing reputation throughout the industry as a valuable asset with his contribution. His work covers the studio and stage with a variety of artists including Texas favorites the Jeff Berry Band, Caleb Carruth, Pherigo and Jeff Johnson. His own material is an artistic meld of sonic and lyrical excellence that is surpassed only by his meticulous nature for the perfection of the arts. In an industry flooded with formulated, machine pressed ideals, his unique and organic approach is a welcomed breath of fresh air. Watch for Steve in the 2005 year on a plethora of projects both stage and studio, including his own solo album, as he continues to cultivate the art of music.******************************************************
