"I'm fucking sick of going to see bands and being bored. I want to be blown away... It's not enough to be another boring group. It's not enough, if you want to do anything." (Ginger (of The Wildhearts), Scuzz fanzine, 1993)
BEERFISH take this philosophy as gospel. After over 10 years in the trenches playing the same old 70s - 90s cover rock that everyone else is, guitarist and vocalist Paul Heitz decided it was time to do something different.
"People are tired of hearing the same old songs played better or worse than the band they saw last weekend" Paul says, "There's too many bands beating the same dead horse. People want more. They want interesting, rocking music played by a quality band. The music doesn't HAVE to be something they know - they don't need to be patronized or spoon fed - they want to rock out and have fun on their day off." Paul continues "The next day I want people to tell their friends 'Wow! I had a blast at (your bar) last night! The band was awesome - they have great bands there! I can't wait to go back! I want to take my friends to (your bar) cuz they'll have fun.' That's the response that bar owners want and that's what BEERFISH is all about."
BEERFISH delivers a refreshing blend of high-energy rock - cover and original that appeals to guys and girls alike. Their sound has been described as a balance between the accessible, well known punk sounds of Nirvana or the Ramones and the fun rock 'n' roll spirit of prime-time Guns N' Roses or even some bizarre marriage between Cheap Trick and Metallica.
"We definitely take the road less traveled to get to the same destination - FUN for the audience, fun for the band, and money at the bar. Everybody ends up happy at the end of the night."
