Today’s music continues to grow and change with the artists it comes in contact with. From the smooth sounds and sexy notes of R&B to the “Rough, Rugged, and Raw†lyrics of Hip Hop, music has, what some may say, “evolved†over the years. Yet and still, many believe that many of today’s artists do not explore the different options of music and maximize its full potential. Not “U Know Ya Boyz†(U.K.Y.B), and I know the name is unique in its own way, that’s what Mr. Fludd and Gutterman wants the audience to understand, they are unique.
“Our style is versatile,†says Mr. Fludd, the R&B half of the group. â€We’re not trying to limit our music. It’s like back in the 70’s, you can play those songs today and they’re still relevant. The music never dies. We strive for that feeling when we make our music.†From Miami, Florida, these artists are no new jacks. They’ve been in the business for years, working with different groups and performing on stage, but in separate entities. “ I learned from those labels and groups I was with before, which were all good experiences,†says Gutterman, the Rapper , who was also a member of The Backyard Boys and Sons Of Poverty in the late 90s. “We got to be on stage, in movies “Mighty Dollar†(2001) and travel and meet a lot of people. We love all the experience but the details just didn’t work out.†After brief stints with First String records and New Orleans Saint Cornerback, Mike McKenzie 34 Ways Entertainment, Gutterman says he’s not discouraged by the music industry and its politics. “ The thing about the industry is you gotta stay persistent and just keep giving them good music. We took steps, did a lot of good things, made music with (Billboard Top 100 Producer) Bigg D and Rick Ross, and did shows with WuTang, Busta Rhymez, and Usher. I’m proud of everything we did. â€
Now U Know Ya Boyz are ready for their debut as a group. “We went back to the drawing board,†says Mr. Fludd. “Gutterman and I are first cousins. I was featured on songs and in the Mighty Dollar movie when Gutter was with those other groups. When we were kids, I was beat boxing and he was rapping. It was only natural for us to make music together.†Their first single is a classic ode to the Miami Music scene, “Dade County Groove.†Produced by Mr. Fludd, this up tempo take of a classic, came to him in a dream. “It was 4AM and I thought to myself, “what does Miami need?â€, and that’s how we came up with the song. It Represents Miami. â€
Another soon to be classic is the provocative club anthem “B!%* Is Bad†which talks about the view of a beautiful woman from a “regular dude from Miami†point of view. “We’re not disrespecting women as a whole,†says Gutterman. “It’s just when you standing outside having a conversation with your homeboys and a fine female walks by, you hear “Damn, That B!%* is Bad!!†We kept hearing it, so we had to make it a song and we wanted to be as accurate as possible.â€
With follow up singles such as the electrifying “U Know This†featuring PeschiBoi, the smooth and groovy “Partyâ€, and the Funk inspired “What Am I Goin Do?†U Know Ya Boyz are ready to take the industry to another level. “We’re full of energy and very versatile. This is serious talent right here and we make music for everybody. You’re gonna be shocked.†About the group name, “U Know Ya Boyz,†â€Who don’t know Ya Boyz? If you don’t, you’ll know soon enough!â€
