About Me

Sean's Bio:
Sean Tarr has been writing, recording and performing professionally for two decades. Based in the New York Tri-State area, his band TNA made quite an impression in the late 80's and early 90's with their infectious brand of heavy melodic rock/metal. After signing to Kivel Records in 2000 and releasing their first album "Finger on the Trigger" in 2001, TNA celebrated the 2004 release of their second full-length album "Branded". After a series of great gigs in 2008, TNA are currently booking shows in the Tri-State area and looking forward to kicking some ass in 2009!
In addition to TNA, Sean is currently sharing lead guitar duties in kick ass metal cover band GRIME FACTOR...covering the best of bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, Motorhead and Def Leppard tribute band ADRENALIZE, the premier Def Leppard experience!
Sean also played lead guitar for original old school punk rock group Johnny Black between 1999 and 2004. In 2003 Sean recorded the guitar tracks for Johnny's debut album produced by legendary Ramones/Misfits producer Daniel Rey. Johnny Thunders guitarist Walter Lure contributed performances as well on a re-vamped version of the Thunders classic "Born to Lose" and Johnny's own Thunders tribute "Loved you to Death".
Sean teamed up with Todd McDowell in the mid 1990's to form McDowell-Tarr. An acoustic pop/rock duo produced by Rainer Preuss, McDowell-Tarr released two maxi-singles for EMI-Germany. An ensuing tour of Germany as well as numerous radio and television appearances proved to be exciting, culminating with a performance in front of thousands at the European music festival "PopCom" in Cologne.
In addition to his original music pursuits, Sean worked for four years with producer Lez Warner, formerly of The Cult as US-UK Music Productions session guitarist. The studio work expanded Sean's musical repertoire requiring him to perform Folk, R&B, Funk, Blues and mainstream Pop styles as well as Hard Rock/Metal.
A brief stint in the Thin Lizzy tribute band Paris Black with Lez on drums, Dave Leitner of Nitro on bass and John Sullivan of Flay of Soul on lead vocals/guitar proved to be an interesting learning experience as well. Sean's electric guitar arsenal currently includes vintage Gibson, Fender, and Charvel guitars as well as a custom made Performance strat, and purple Gretsch 6120. From 1987 to 1989 Sean studied voice with Don Lawrence in NYC.
Praise for Sean's work with TNA:
"Sean Tarr has stepped up to the deck and taken charge masterfully with his brand of playing. This album (Branded) is not an album short on guitars, it is an album that will have guitar album fans salivating and wondering where has this man been hiding all this time! (Patrick Rankine - The Loudest Rock.Com) Particular credit goes to guitarist Sean Tarr, whose heroic performances command repeated listens. (Eric Aaron, Senior staff writer, Openupandsay.com) Sean Tarr's guitar work IS superb on this CD, (Branded) with his complexity, speed and thought out solos. All of which, gives fans of guitar playing albums Goosebumps with each listen!" (Rob Rockman, The Loudest Rock.com)
