For years the city of Mount Airy, North Carolina has housed the love of skateboarding within itself via its children, young adults, and on into the parents and friends who support skateboarding. A group of concerned citizens has finally formed a panel where you, the local skater or supporter, can come and voice your opinions and needs to continue your love of skateboarding. Through meetings and community cooperation we hope to spark enough interest within the area to gain enough backing to create a skateboard plaza right here in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
With the help of Reeves Community Center, prominent members of the community, and YOU the local skater or supporter we CAN make this a reality in the near future. All it will take is for us to band together in support of this positive and creative outlet for our youth and young adults.
Skateboarding is something that has spanned generations and cultures throughout the world. It is a way for anyone who wishes to have fun and create can do so in a world that is continually bogging them down. Having a place to do this is the main problem for all of us who skate, and the idea behind a skateboarding plaza is for all of us to have a positive and peaceful place to skate as well as a venue where our ideas can flourish and grow; in turn creating another community funded project that we all can become involved in and can be proud of.
This project is in the beginning stages and needs your help to make it grow. Please take this avenue (myspace page) and spread the word that we ARE trying to get a SKATE PLAZA in Mount Airy, North Carolina, and that it IS a positive outlet for our youth and everyone involved, including every person in the community.
