SITY/SHENESS OF 3XLADYCREW:
BLACK N LOVELY, I LOVE ME. HOW WE GO FROM "BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL" BACK TO NAPPY AS UGLY?
-from "Counterattack"

“3X A LADY, and WE ARE SUCH A FUCKIN’ LADY!!!”
Female collaborations are uncommon and, thus, necessary in hip hop. This makes 3XLADYCREW (3XL), this all women’s hip hop crew consisting of SITY (Should I Tell You), FR@NCHISE and D.J. NIKKI, an innovative rarity in the world of popular culture.
These three mistresses of ceremonies are changing the game in unprecedented ways. Battling sexism & the patriarchy, SITY, FR@NCHISE and D.J. NIKKI are some of the first women rappers to explicitly use the F-word: FEMINIST. As a rap collective, 3XL can hardly be considered apolitical; as a crew, the ladies of 3XL address issues of classism, sexuality, queerness, sexism and racism.
As individual rappers and poets, the three college students met at an all women’s liberal art school and began in the fall of 2007 to build their collective. While the ladies of 3XL collaborate on various projects and perform together, 3XL is not a group. Rather, it is a FEMINIST HIP-HOP COLLECTIVE OF SOLO ARTISTS. 3XL was formed as a support network through which SITY, FR@NCHISE and D.J. NIKKI would be able to pool in resources for each other and their affiliates.
In an interview for Bryn Mawr College’s alumni magazine Bryn Mawr Now, SITY—who played a key role in founding 3XL—told the interviewer, “I came up with the idea of being sort of like Wu-Tang… [It has] a collective unit, but its rappers have their own highly individual identities.”
THIS ALL-WOMEN’S HIP HOP CREW IS REWRITING HERSTORY!!!
Currently, FR@NCHISE is working on releasing her solo mixtape.
D.J. NIKKI is working on self-publishing a chapbook and who's poems "Sobrevivir" and "The American Dream" will be featured this spring 2008, in the 73rd issue of Sinister Wisdom Magazine: "Latina Lesbians"
SITY is working on releasing her solo mixtape, Rapoetry, as well as selling her recently self-published books of poetry, Just-Is: A Story & Project on Love (co-authored).
Additionally, SITY's poems, "How?" & "Noisy Phone", have been featured in Origami Condom's 10th issue and "Black Woman" has been featured in an upcoming anthology edited by Dr. Nagueyalti Warren,Ph.D., M.F.A.
The mixtapes and chapbooks are expected to be released and distributed later this Fall.

Oya - Oya is one of the most powerful African Goddesses (Orishas). A Warrior-Queen, much of Oya's power is rooted in the natural world; She is the Goddess of thunder, lightning, tornadoes, winds, rainstorms and hurricanes. A Fire Goddess, it is Oya who brings rapid change and aids us in both inner and outer transformation. Oya is the guardian of the realm between life and death; as such, She is not only the Goddess of spirit communication, funerals and cemeteries but also the Goddess of clairvoyance, psychic abilities, intuition and rebirth. She can call forth the spirit of death, or hold it back -- such is the extent of Her power. Because of Her affiliation to the dead, and Her intense knowledge of the magick arts, Oya is also known as "the Great Mother of the Elders of the Night (Witches)". Oya is both loved and feared, and for good reason: unleashed, Oya is the Savage Warrior, the Protective Mother, She whose power sweeps all injustice, deceit and dishonesty from Her path. She will destroy villages if the need is true enough, for while She understands everything, She will only accept, act upon, and speak the truth (even when it is hard to bear). Oya is the protectress of women and patron of feminine leadership. Fiercely loving, She is wildly unpredictable and can change from benevolent, caring Mother to destructive Warrior in the blink of an eye. Passionate, fearless, sensual and independent, Oya is not a Goddess to be invoked lightly and must be treated with respect and care. While She will toss you in Her storms of change, and shelter you in Her caring embrace, She will also strike you down with Her lightning should the need arise. However, do not let that dissuade you from working with Oya, for She is the Strong Woman, the Bringer of Change and Seeker of Truth, who can be a most powerful ally.
