The Arcane New Year was formed in early February of 2008, when ex-members of Giants Over The Falls and Citizens Erased got together to form a new four piece outfit that was to become The Arcane New Year. The sound produced by the boys is a catchy, alternative rock style of music with a high energy stage presence to suit. After playing together for awhile it was decided that the Guitarists, (Peter and Darren) and drummer, (Dan) would stay the same and bass player was to be replayed by ex-Citizen Erased Guitarist Mitchell Kirly. After playing at a few of the youth festivals on the Sunshine Coast the boys thought it would be good to record a few tracks, so they hit the home studio (being peters house) to lay down a few rough home recordings. With the opportunity presented, to become part of a collaboration CD for Coastal Baked, the guys pushed to do some professional recordings, in a local well established studio. During the last few months, we have seen the line up change again, with Oliver Cubis from Citizens Erased moving in on guitar and Darren moving over to Vocals. The Arcane New Year has become the forefront in the life of the band members, with them making the big move from the Sunshine Coast Queensland, down to Clunes, a small town situated near Byron Bay, New South Wales.
