He recently produced 2 tracks for Hootie and the Blowfish (Atlantic Records) One of these tracks “Innocence”, was released as the album’s first single and climbed to .25 on Billboards AC chart. The second single, “Alright”, which Pete also wrote and produced, hits radio this summer. The second single “Dejame Volar” (co-written by Pete with Julio Iglesias Jr.) was just released and is climbing fast. Pete Masitti also recently finished up production on an album for former New Kids On the Block member Danny Wood (the Album was recently released on BMG). The single, “When The Lights Go Out”, just released in the U.S. is picking up steam and “Where You Are”, a separate single released last month in Germany, just cracked the top 30 there. Masitti contributed heavily as a writer on both the Wood and Iglesias projects, having written or co-written nearly every track on both records.Other recent credits include the production of the single “Dos corazones, dos historias” for the International superstar Julio Iglesias Sr. The track was released worldwide (Sony Records) helping to drive album sales past the 2 million mark. Masitti also charted on the Latin Hot 100 (peaking at .28) in 2002 with a co-write for WEA artist Yolandita entitled “Te Vine A Buscar” in which he also contributed as an arranger/programmer. Pete also has a number of cuts “on hold” with various signed artists. For the last 5 years Masitti has been the owner/operator of Miami’s West End Studios where he has produced and written for numerous independent and major label artists, including releases by KC & The Sunshine Band, Olga Tanyon (the triple platinum WEA release, “Llevame Contigo”) and the pop band Panjea. Panjea singles "If You Want Me" and "Yo Quiero" enjoyed heavy rotation on national and international radio and albums which included Panjea singles sold over 300,000 copies worldwide. Another Panjea single, "Do You Wanna Get Close" was included on a compilation released by SONY in Latin America to widespread acclaim. Masitti has also written , produced and performed several songs used in national advertising campaigns, including an annual ad for Burdines Federated stores, and an edgy spot for Hewlett Packard which was aired heavily on MTV.As a musician (keyboards/vocals/guitars) Masitti has toured extensively with Shakira, David Lee Roth, and with Julio Iglesias Jr. as Musical Director, (opening up for Cher on her "Believe" tour). He has also played alongside Gloria Estafan, Jon Secada and the Rolling Stones, as well as appearing on hit shows such as Rosie O’Donnel and Sabado Gigante. In addition to writing and producing for other artists, Pete has released 2 solo albums (“Turn Around” and “Green Trim”) on his own label, Ear Kandy Records and is currently writing and preparing tracks for a third. The single from his second album entitled "When I See You Smile" enjoyed widespread radio success. Released to second tier A/C radio, the song received 53 adds in the first 8 weeks of the campaign and was being spun over 1,000 times a week nationally. It also soared from its debut position of .117 to .26 and was featured on Broadcast Program Weekly’s Hot Hits Disk which is distributed to radio programmers nationally.Pete was also named a finalist in a recent Mars Music Best Unsigned Bands contest, and 2 of the tracks from his album were picked for the “Best of Taxi Pop CD”. Pete’s tracks "Everything I See" and “Turn Around” were also used in the "Up and Coming Artist" campaign for Burdines Federated Department Stores. As part of an internet promotional campaign, Masitti reached .1 on Soundclick.com’s overall music AND pop charts simultaneously. He also charted at .8 in the pop category at MP3.com and has received over 30,000 unique downloads from fans. He also recently placed a song entitled “Single” as the main theme track to an independent film.Masitti performs regularly in South Florida and also recently appeared as a featured artist at Palm Beach’s “Sunfest” and at an NSAI Showcase in Los Angeles. In addition, he has performed at the ASCAP Sponsored Showcase “Quiet On The Set” in Orlando that also featured Howie D of The Backstreet Boys and Marty Cintron of “No Mercy”.Growing up on an organic farm in the foothills of New Jersey, Masitti learned early on the value of being involved in a project from beginning to end. “My father was a great inspiration to me. Almost everything that we ate was grown on our farm. We hand raised chickens that were fed from our garden, and he even made his own beer and wine, although I can personally attest that they didn’t always taste that great. My Dad encouraged me to do my own thing, even if it took me a while to get it right.”After graduating in just 3 years from the prestigious Juilliard School of Music, Masitti packed all of his belongings in his dad’s old VW bug, and, with $100 in his pocket, headed out to LA. “It was the dead of August - the car’s A/C was busted, the heater was stuck on, and, to make things worse, my bug started breaking down before I even got out of Jersey” By some miracle, Masitti made it to California where he joined a band and toured the states before finally settling in Florida where he finished his education earning a Master’s in Music Production from the University of Miami.
