Influences: I have been influenced by everything I've heard!! The usual.. Hendrix, Jeff Beck, SRV, EVH, Vai, Steve Morse, Scott Henderson, Michael Brecker, Miles,
Tom Scott, Billy Gibbons, Allman Bros., Chris Whitley, Stevie Wonder, Larry Carlton, LUKE, Zakk, Robben Ford, Brian May, Albert Lee, all the great classic and southern rock that was "new" when I was a kid, 70's funk, and all the bandmembers who I've had the pleasure of knowing, loving, and sharing the stage with at some point in time. I try to let everything I hear creep into my playing in some way or another.. theivery? I guess.. haha.. I also have music to thank for several lifelong friendships. Music is the great translator, it allows an 80 year old to share common ground with an 18 year old. We are able to see past color, political stance, social status, and even greater divides with our love for music as a common denominator. I still believe something I was told at a very early age; "Music is the laguage of the soul".
Sounds Like: I try to vary what I sound like depending on who I'm playing with. To compliment the artist or the song without being overbearing is what I strive for. The players I look up to are masters of this. They play for the song. Isn't that the most important thing? "The Song"? MOJO TRIO, on the other hand, is PURE self indulgence!..LOL You can't be tasteful all the time!!!
